The A1 category licence can be obtained by passing the A1 motorcycle test. This is completed on a motorcycle with a maximum cylinder capacity of 125cc, up to 11KW and with a power to weight ratio not exceeding 0.1KW per kg. This also applies to twist and go scooters. After passing the module 1 and module 2 test the candidate will hold a full motorcycle licence restricted up to 125cc, maximum power 11KW (15 BHP). Following changes to EU legislation in January 2013, the A1 motorcycle licence is the only motorbike licence available to people aged 17 and older. An A2 licence is available to anyone aged 19 or older.
