The UKDA Advanced Machine Polishing (professional) Course is a day for those who would like to develop their technique further on all machine styles to produce the high-end, high-efficiency finish that is the marque of the most accomplished detailers. Taking cues from any existing experience, we will push the boundaries of your polishing abilities over the edge, running rotary DA and forced drives to their limit to give to the skills to drive up your efficiency and perfect paint like never before. The UKDA Advanced Machine Polishing (professional) Course is a 2 day for those who would like to develop their technique further on all machine styles to produce the high-end, high-efficiency finish that is the marque of the most accomplished detailers. Far from there being a consistent method - there are a number of subtle variations you can make to what would be termed a 'standard' technique which will speed up your process, enhance further your gloss extracting capabilities and make the right choice in machine based on paint types, conditions and ancillary equipment. On this day we will run through variables in speed and pad choices, show the differences ambient temperature and rebound can make to a job, explain the different approaches based on clear coat solids, look at how far you can push a painted surface, and much much more. The course is run over two full days (9.30 am - 4.30 pm) and picks up where both our introduction course and the Flexxpert Seminar leave off, so is also the perfect follow-up to those who have attended either course, in addition to those who want to learn all about machine polishing in every style. Alternatively, if you are machine polishing in your day-to-day work outside of detailing and feel you have scope to improve, or you keep coming up against small issues, this is the course for you. This Level 1 Course comes bundled with our One-Day Motorbike extension course at a discounted rate to the bolt-on in isolation, perfect to give you all the knowledge you need to complete a full detail on a motorcycle, including use of paddock stands, fairing removal, mechanical areas, and much more. Alternatively, Level 1 candidates can later book the Learn2 Motorcycle Detailing 1 Day course as a bolt-on, to complete at another suitable time. Practical assessment takes place as part of the original training session, at the end of the course you will be assigned a (manageable) series of case studies and exercises to complete over the period of 3 months to cement the knowledge. There is then a short externally assessed exam prior to the optional commencement of Level Two, to ensure there are no weak areas. After which the Level One accreditation is awarded and you can either progress or choose to practice the skills gained with ongoing support. The course is pefect for beginners and more advanced mosaic makers. A perfect opportunity to immerse yourself in the world of mosaics. Learn how to make classic and contemporary mosaics on this six-day residential mosaic workshop in Greece using local stone and marble. The Lagou Raxi Hotel in the mountains of Pelion provides a wonderful backdrop for this relaxing, informative holiday in an unspoilt area of Greece. June 25 – July 2, 2022 Saturday Arrival of participants. Experienced students will meet in the studio to prepare their materials and substrates and to finalise their designs. Meet & Greet for the whole group. Short Introduction to the history of Ancient Greek and Roman mosaics and an overview of contemporary mosaics. Welcome Dinner at the hotel. Sunday Getting started. Discussion of the commonly used approaches to mosaic making with an overview of mosaic tools, materials and techniques. A look at the ‘classic’ mosaic rules and the fundamental skills needed to make a direct method mosaic including how to cut and lay the tesserae and design principles. Students work on a practice coaster. All students finalise their main design and prepare their substrates. Students start work on a 30cm by 30cm mosaic on Jackoboard which is suitable for indoor or outdoor hanging. Afternoon: visit to one of Pelion’s remote and beautiful beaches and Byzantine mosaic relics. Monday Students continue with their own pieces with Helen’s support and direction. Tuesday Students continue with their own pieces with Helen’s support and direction. Afternoon: As before and a PowerPoint presentation on the art of Andamento – the visual flow of the mosaic. Wednesday Students work at different paces so those who are ready may already have started on their second or even third piece. The other techniques covered during the week are mosaics on mesh and using found materials such as pebbles and shells with tile adhesive. Afternoon: As before and a PowerPoint presentation on Contemporary Mosaics. Thursday Students continue with their own pieces. Those who are ready will seal and grout their main mosaics. Demonstration of how to grout. Demonstration of how to apply a mesh mosaic to a fixed surface using tile adhesive. Afternoon: Excursion to visit some Pelion monasteries or other sites of interest. Friday All students finish their main piece and/or their extra mosaics and prepare for an informal exhibition of the week’s work in the studio. Exhibition, group photo and farewell dinner. Saturday Departure of participants, or a rest over the weekend*. * There is a possibility to continue using the studio, tools and materials unsupervised over the weekend for a small extra charge. An introduction course is a great way to learn about the amazing craft of blacksmithing, the course will teach you the basics of forging and making decorative work for your home and you will have something you have made to take home with you and enjoy.  On the course we will make a number of small items, including hooks, bottle openers, key rings, pendants, candle holders and others based on time available. Courses are £150 Per person per day  I run a strict cancellation policy.
