Be able to manage an unresponsive casualty who is not breathing normally. Know how to safely use an automated external defibrillator. Be able to safely use an automated external defibrillator. Who should attend? This qualification is for people who have a specific interest or responsibility at work, or in voluntary and community activities, in being able to provide BLS when dealing with an emergency situation which may involve using an AED. Pre-requisites Students must be at least 16 years old on the first day of training. Assessment and Certifications Assessment for this course is continuous. Successful students will receive an Immerse Training Certificate, which is valid for one year. This certificate will be issued by Qualsafe, the awarding body for Immerse Training. Additional Information Completion of the Level 2 Award in Basic Life Support and Safe Use of an Automated External Defibrillator includes 1 credit at Level 2 of the Qualification Credit Framework (QCF). The Level 2 Award in Basic Life Support and Safe Use of an automated External Defibrillator is also recommended as an annual refresher for student who have successfully completed the QA Level 3 Award in First Aid at Work (QCF). First Aid training – Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW) (FAA Award Level 2) is QCF, Ofqual and HSE approved awarding organisation. This course delivered over a minimum of 6 hours is both practical and theoretical covering responsibilities of the first aider, reporting, first aid hygiene, bleeding, shock, seizures, assessments, resuscitation, angina, heart attacks, choking, minor injuries and dealing with an unresponsive casualty, compliant with the latest health and safety executive regulations and guidelines. ATTIRE AND DRESS CODE We would recommend for all female candidates to wear trousers, comfortable shoes so that they can all practice the technique of CPR effectively on the CPR manikins. The QCF approved qualification came into effect on 1st October 2013, along with new guidance on assessing the needs of First Aid in your workplace. Your risk assessments of First Aid needs may well identify the need for Emergency First Aiders at Work (EFAW) either as an addition to your First Aiders (3-day), or where your Company activities are low risk. A lot of our Clients have requested this course as extra cover when working on construction sites or similar works covered by the Principal Contractors trained site first aiders and for smaller works. Aims To give a basic knowledge to help you deal with any Emergency First Aid at Work. Course Content • Responsibilities and reporting • Assessment of the situation • Basic hygiene in First Aid • Dealing with an unresponsive casualty • Resuscitation and AED (defib) • Heart attacks • Bleeding • Minor injuries • Choking • Shock • Seizures. Prerequisites None - The course is intended either as an introduction or as a refresher. Assessment Delegates will be required to pass a multiple-choice test at the end of the training. (In addition, the HSE strongly recommend that all students undergo an annual refresher programme of about 3 hours, although this is not mandatory). Certificate On successful completion of the course, all delegates will receive a certificate of attendance.
