Welcome to Stagecoach Wolverhampton where we provide quality part-time training in the performing arts for children aged 2-18. Stagecoach Wolverhampton nurtures a wide range of talent with some of our students going on to further their training at RADA, LAMDA, Performers College, LIPA, Laine Theatre Arts, ALRA and Birmingham School of Acting. Students go on to perform professionally and also train to become teachers, some coming back and sharing their experiences at Stagecoach. Regular performance opportunities are provided through our dance troupe and we also offer annual LAMDA examinations. Past productions have included West End, Grand Theatre and Birmingham Symphony Hall. We endeavour to provide a safe and inclusive teaching environment welcoming all students through our doors and supporting their creative development throughout their time with us both off and on the stage. Not only have we been supplying practical, personal development and wellbeing programmes for a generation of learners aged from 4 to 14 but we also provide training in Values Education, an element in the school curriculum that is becoming increasingly significant as the topic of values becomes ever more mainstream and as the understanding of how values affect and impact people’s thinking, decision-making, actions and wellbeing grows. The intense focus on academic outcomes during the past two decades has been at the expense of many children’s mental health and wellbeing, and this has brought into focus the urgent need for a shift in education practices towards rounded, whole-child development. This approach has always been central to our work. There are few opportunities for teachers during their initial teacher training and continuing professional development to learn about the role of values in our day-to-day lives and to appreciate how they can be proactively used to nurture and empower individuals to progressively gain character strengths, social and emotional skills and personal qualities that are essential for their happiness, health and capacity to maximise their talents and abilities. I started weaving about 23 years ago when a lovely lady called Cat (Catherine Beaumont) showed me how to make the base of a basket From that moment on I have had a creative journey, working with and learning about willow. My beginnings were very part time, but in the last few years I've been dedicating much more of my life to the study and practise of this amazing material. My husband Brian and daughter Jaz have joined me in the journey and are now part of the teaching team. Brian has been teaching Conservation management and greenwood crafts for over 25 years and Jaz, nearly 30 now has been home educated and grown up with willow in her veins.
