Research, training, and insights from Causal Insights OUR TEAM Prof Mark S
Gilthorpe Professor of Statistical Epidemiology Trained initially as a
mathematical physicist, Mark is now an interdisciplinary scientist at the Leeds
Institute for Data Analytics with a focus on modelling complexity in
observational data. In the past few years, his research and teaching have
converged on the use of causal inference methods and how these can be integrated
with machine learning and AI. Peter WG Tennant Dr Peter WG Tennant Associate
Professor of Health Data Science Trained initially in Epidemiology, Peter is now
a health data scientist at the Leeds Institute for Data Analytics with a focus
on translating and adapting causal inference methods for use in applied health
and social science research. He leads the Alan Turing Institute’s Causal
