This one day course will support teachers and RSE leads in special colleges and special schools with post 16 learners to deliver a meaningful curriculum through the Preparing for Adulthood outcomes. The course will explore key issues for older learners, including how to teach about practical aspects of relationships such as attraction and fancying people, starting relationships, negotiation and consent discussions, and how to keep yourself safe. This 2-part work shop is based on lived experience and uses evidence and research to navigate the complexities of parenting a child with additional needs.

dealing with difficult anniversaries

being an empowered parent

Our level 1 course will help you explore key questions around the issue of domestic abuse. The series will start you on the journey of understanding domestic abuse, how you can spot the signs and how best to respond.
The course explores key questions about domestic abuse:
What is domestic abuse? - We'll explore the current domestic abuse definition the UK government uses. Particular emphasis will be given to understanding coercive and controlling behaviour and how it's displayed in an intimate relationship.
How can I recognise the signs? - It's impossible to create an exhaustive list of the signs of domestic abuse. However, in this session, we explore the beliefs behind abusive behaviours and their effects on victims/survivors.
