June 2011. We take children from Ledbury Primary School and over twenty other local primary schools in Herefordshire, Gloucestershire and Worcestershire. Introduction from the Headteacher Site and Facilities The school is situated close to the edge of the town with views over the surrounding countryside. Subject departments have well-equipped suites of teaching rooms, all with interactive touch screens and we have seven ICT suites and over three hundred computers so that computer-based facilities are always available. Our sport and leisure complex provides excellent indoor facilities together with a large, floodlit Astroturf pitch. In 2009 we opened our Student Services Centre, the first of its kind to be established in Herefordshire. The Centre sets a new standard for inclusive and supportive secondary education, bringing together all essential pastoral and academic support services under one roof. Sixth Form Our Sixth Form Centre is housed in a purpose-built, separate suite of teaching rooms, an ICT network, study room, common room and offices. We have an open entry policy with courses to suit students of all abilities and aptitudes. Numbers each year average around one hundred and twenty students and this means that class sizes can be kept relatively small. Senior Leadership Team Our Senior Leadership Team includes the Headteacher, the Deputy Headteacher, four Assistant Headteacher and the School Business Manager. Successive OFSTED reports have praised the quality of leadership and management at JMHS. The Staff Staff work well as a team and are very supportive of each other. New staff have an induction programme which is individual and matched to previous experience, skills and prior knowledge. Faculty leaders see their most important role as the support of colleagues and they are committed to helping members of their team to work as effectively as possible. Pastoral Care We have an excellent pastoral care system led by our Assistant Headteacher for Pastoral Care and expertly supported by Year Leaders and a team of form tutors. We firmly believe that each student should have key adults whose support is continuous throughout their school careers. Student Support Assistants offer excellent support to Year Leaders as well as being a contact point for both parents and students alike. All students are also allocated to a House. At the end of each academic year Houses and Year groups compete for trophies awarded for positive behaviour, high attendance, sporting achievement and participation, the learning standards, charity work and House Points. Each week students have assemblies and throughout the year take part in a series of fun and exciting challenges. We find this gives students a strong sense of identity within our school

Penny Hemms teaches Monday to Friday for Ballet, Tap, Jazz and Classical Performance Donna Reid teaches Musical Theatre Tatum Bisley teaches Street billionphotos-1001069 Alex Bennett – Principal alex Trained as a child at Hereford Ballet School for 15 years and after completing A-Levels at Hereford Sixth Form, completed a 3 year BA (Hons) QTS Degree at Worcester University, to become a qualified Primary Teacher. Started Aspire Dance Studio in 2008 along side studying at Dance Academy South West in Bristol. Fully qualified to teach up to major level in ISTD Tap, Modern and Jazz. Alex has many years’ experience in choreographing solos, duets, trios and groups dances for festivals, exams, shows and local events. Alex has also taught Dance GCSE at Weobley High School for the past 8 years, and will be continuing to develop the subject within the school over the next few years. Over the last 5 years Alex has lead Aspire Dance Studio to success at Worcester Festival and Gloucester Festivals where a number of dancers have qualified for championships and won many medals in both senior and junior age ranges. Alex completed her Acrobatic Arts training 2 years ago and is now a qualified Acrobatic Arts Module 2 Teacher with well established Acro classes running on Saturdays. billionphotos-1001069 Miss Penny Hemms Penny cropped Penny began her dance training at the age of four in Charlton Kings. Her family relocated to Gloucester in 1986 and she enrolled at Gloucester Dance Studio where she continued her training in B.B.O Ballet, Modern and Tap until she was sixteen. She then attended Performers College in Essex and completed a three year full-time course in Professional Dance and Musical Theatre, gaining her Associate teaching certificates in I.S.T.D. Modern, Tap, Jazz and Ballet. Penny also choreographs festival solos and group pieces. Penny has danced professionally in cabaret in London’s West End and performed at various famous locations including Wembley Stadium, the London Palladium and Her Majesty’s Theatre. Penny returned to Gloucester in 2001 and has been dance teaching around the county ever since. She has also continued to attend further teacher training and lectures in order to keep her qualifications up to date. Penny joined the faculty of Aspire Dance Studios in January 2012 and is excited and proud to be part of a young, vibrant and talented school. 3Degreez Allstarz CIC is Hereford's Cheerleading and Dance community club. We are a not for profit company, running a range of cheerleading, tumbling & dance classes at our 2 Hereford locations. Allstar cheerleading includes many elements from stunts to gymnastics, jumps to performance & dance. Allstar cheer provides so much more than that, our sport helps build confidence and self-esteem in individuals as well as building leadership and teamwork skills, and strong friendships for life. We have classes available from as young as 9 months old all the way through to adult fitness, running parent and tots sessions, recreational cheerleading classes, 1-2-1 tumbling sessions, and competition cheer and dance teams.
