ABOUT US Hi I’m Amy and I set up The Edinburgh Craft Club in 2018 to feed my love of everything craft. I am an Art graduate, professional designer and love exploring and teaching new creative techniques. At The Edinburgh Craft Club we specialise in running independent craft workshops, live online and in venues across Scotland. We also design and create a range of craft kits for you to enjoy at home. Whether you want a new skill under your belt or simply to have a creative evening in or out with a few friends, we have a range of fun classes and DIY kits to suit all abilities. We are now based at We Make Edinburgh, a workshop and studio space in the heart of the city.

The institute plays an important role in education and culture: it is one of the primary places in Britain to learn Turkish. Located in Maple Street, Fitzrovia, it houses an extensive library that is open to students and academics; and it regularly holds an array of classes and events to teach and promote traditional and contemporary Turkish art and Turkish culture. In doing so, the Yunus Emre Enstitüsü seeks to increase the cultural exchange and improve the friendship between Turkey and the United Kingdom

I'm a paper artist and illustrator whose work combines traditional paper-cutting techniques, collage and digital art. I'm represented by Meiklejohn illustration agency and have worked with a range of clients including, BBC Four, Tatler, The Guardian and Gosh Arts. I have illustrated and authored a selection of books, including Papercut Woodland and Paper Plants published by Carlton Books. I love to share my craft, I teach workshops throughout the UK. Paper cutting is creative and therapeutic, focusing the mind and steadying the hand while bringing about a serene sense of achievement. It's a joy to see others find the same level of joy in the craft as I do.

Upholsterer Simion Hawtin-Smith is obsessed with vintage chairs. Simion began Reloved Upholstery because of love. For years he has loved vintage chairs, not purely on an aesthetic level but also for their silent, dependable functionality. Here at Reloved, Simion offers bespoke upholstery services andcreative workshops for budding furniture fanatics. What’s more, Simion also upholsters skip-salvaged seating for the BBC One show Money for Nothing. Simion has always been interested in interiors, especially when it comes to making and restoring things. When he was a child, his mum caught him stripping the dark stain off his bedroom furniture to bring it back to the pale wood. After studying design at college, he ended up working in the barindustry, before opening his own cafe and art gallery in Manchester. He worked hard to perfect the interior, designing it himself andworking on the upholstery. The challenges of renovating a house in France, led Simion to learn how to properly upholster furniture. He met upholsterer Dennis Gilligan, who taught Simion how toupholster the traditional way. You can read more about the brilliant Dennis in this blog.
