Much effort has been put in over the past 13 years to integrate Afro hair education as an essential part of the Hair education cirriculum. Kaye Sotomi Brand and Marketing Kaye is an Entrepreneur, who wears many hats. He’s a Creative Director, CEO, a seasoned Marketing and Business Development Executive, with a track record for delivering results. Having struggled to sometimes find salons that could cater for his hair type as well as hearing several horror stories of friends and family struggling to find hairtype appropriate services, Kaye sought to do something different and to be a part of the change he wanted to see. He is the founder of CHOP CHOP London- London's first inclusive gender and price neutral salon chain. Good Roots is an ideal opportunity to bring textured hair education to the UK, a long overdue, much needed and refreshing outlook for haridressers and clients alike. We offer inclusive hair education virtually and in person from industry and award winning hair experts. Provision of sailing opportunities for disadvantaged young people 'Motivating Young People Through Sailing' The Island Trust helps young people with disabilities, learning difficulties, and those suffering deprivation to take part in exciting adventure voyages on board our fleet of traditional sailing boats. Through the challenge of learning to sail we provide disadvantaged young people with the opportunity to develop their capabilities and life-skills. We coach the teamwork and communication skills necessary to lead a fun, healthy and independent life. Vocational training offered on board can contribute to long-term employment prospects. Our young sailors return to their communities with an altered outlook on life, increased motivation and a fresh perspective on their self-worth and abilities. For many who sail with us, this outdoor experience could be the first time they have stayed away from home, left the inner city or community where they live. Beneficiaries are aged primarily from 14 – 18 but on occasion, may be as young as 10 and can be up to the age of 25. Our bursaries are wholly based on need and can be up to 100% of costs. Each sailing expedition is tailored specifically to the needs of the group, with consultation between the Skipper and Group Leader, to ensure that we are able to create the optimum learning environment. Most sailing weeks offer the opportunity to work towards an RYA certificate [https://www.theislandtrust.org.uk/activities/rya-courses/]. On an Island Trust voyage young people sail as a crew, cook and eat together. Time with us is so much more than just sailing – many studies have concluded that sailing is a particularly effective and innovative platform for enhancing young lives. It encourages co-operation, a sense of responsibility, instils a sense of adventure, develops initiative, social skills, feelings of self-worth, communication skills and acts as a catalyst to engagement with education and employment. Our Ocean Discoverability [https://www.theislandtrust.org.uk/the-island-trust/ocean-discoverability/] day sails support young people from special needs schools and day centres in Plymouth, Devon and Cornwall. Some with life-limiting conditions. This work has expanded our own day-sail provision, and is in addition to our residential sailing voyages. On a typical Ocean Discoverability day the young crew will observe, touch and feel marine life in the marina before examining it under the microscope and via an underwater camera on the seabed. After a safety brief and familiarisation with the boat, the trip begins easily by motoring down the River Plym to Plymouth Sound while stowing the ropes and fenders. This helps the young people get used to the boat and its motion. Once in the Sound, those who wish to do so help hoist the sails and steer. There they gain an appreciation of the geography, marine life and other ships and boats, spotting and recording them in a specially written guide. Depending on the levels of ability there are mystery objects to find on deck, simple tasks like finding and counting all the stanchions, a nautical word search, calculating the boat’s sail area and learning some knots. Some just enjoy the sensory experience. On the return journey they help collect samples of plankton for microscopic examination when back in the marina. You may be familiar with masterminding, where a group of like-minded individuals get together (in person or online) to support each other, exchange ideas, discuss challenges and so on. They can be executives or any other professional, but are often business owners/entrepreneurs, where people around them on a daily basis usually do not have the same priorities or outlook and so cannot understand the unique challenges they face. Hi, I’m Arthur Kendall, founder of the Masterhearting Club. I had been wanting to set up some sort of masterminding group for some time when one day, in late 2018, I read about a new approach, which instead of focussing on solving problems using the mind, people would use the heart as the guide. This immediately resonated with me and I decided to set up a platform which would allow people (of any background) to set up private or semi-private groups – where certain things can be shared with the wider community. In the first instance I intend to use this online platform to organise a small beta group, with a couple of local friends plus a couple of remote members, to test this dynamic, all of whom have an entrepreneurial streak, though quite different backgrounds, which is important, to allow different perspectives on our challenges. Since I live in a fairly rural area, albeit a provincial capital, a major motivator was to allow closer connections to be formed with people around the world who share a similar worldview on consciousness, leadership and entrepreneurship. This will allow members to spend time with people who more closely align with our international entrepreneurial outlook and desire to make the world a better place. At the same time, I can help others achieve the same and create their own groups within this heart-centred, conscious business community. So this is your community. Not like you read in so many sites and marketing blurbs. I may be the originator, but this thing is bigger than me, the universe is creating it, initially through me, but as a way to bring people together that will evolve it in ways I cannot even yet conceive. I will not set direction and insist on strategies to get to where I want to go. That is the conventional “predict and control” model, which I know is destined for the history books. My model is the “sense and response” model, and I will use it to adapt the site, and as more come on board, you will also contribute to its destiny. We are a training company offering courses for the Workplace and Healthcare sector Plans for 2023: As regional trainers we’re concerned by the price of fuel and train tickets, strikes and protests, and as such the core team are concerned about making commitments to customers that we can’t keep. Each of the trainers have reduced the distance they are willing to travel and as such the area they are able to cover. At present, we’re only looking to make available about six months. Hopefully this will improve as the outlook improves. Coronavirus Update: The UK Resus Council have confirmed that their ‘Pandemic Protocols’ are not to be considered temporary and we are to treat them as the new norm. This means that a leaner only has to demonstrate effective chest compression to demonstrate competence. The group size is now an increasingly important factor as distancing still needs to be observed on any course. We are minded to cap any course to 12 unless the room size permits otherwise.
