The Bovey Tracey Swimming Pool Association is a Registered Charity run by a dedicated group of volunteers. The Pool is a 25 x 9.1 metre "open-air" heated pool. There is also a 3 x 3 metre Toddler Pool which is maintained at a constant 28 degrees Celsius. We are able to provide a disabled chair hoist on request to assist entry and exit from the pool. If you could offer the pool some of your time and skills we would be keen to hear from you. We are always in need of all kinds of support. Please contact us via email at boveypool@gmail.com if you think you can help us. We are grateful for anyone who uses our pool - the money goes to keep our facility open. After a brief stint working for the University, and determined never to work indoors again, Alasdair secured a Woodland Rangers post with the National Trust and spent the next ten years caring for and working with coastal native woodland and parkland in Gwynedd and Anglesey. During this time he discovered that engineering, teaching and a passion for woods and wood work were the ideal ingredients for his own venture. When the chance arose to move with his young family to South Devon, Little Acorn Furniture was born. In addition to furniture making and greenwood courses, Alasdair operates Little Acorn Forestry providing a range of forestry and conservation services from management planning to tree felling, planting and invasive species control. Needle-felting is a fascinating experience, watching creations taking a life and form of their own as you work. It is a very intuitive and tactile craft. Tools required are few and the materials relatively inexpensive. The work can be picked up and put down at a moment’s notice, and can be carried out almost anywhere. Michelle started teaching the craft eight years ago, holding regular workshops at venues across the country. She has now taught over 2000 people and her book on Needlefelting will be published in January 2024 by Crowood Press. Workshops are held in a very relaxed atmosphere - it’s been said that the laughs are as good as the course!  There are several regular venues all over the country or you can travel to Furzie's Workshop in Somerset or arrange for Furzie to travel to you.
