We are Life Education East Midlands and we were formed on the 1st April 2022 following the amalgamation of Life Education Nottinghamshire and Life Education Northamptonshire. From the 1st August 2022 Life Education East Midlands were delighted to be joined by Life Education Leicestershire. We are a specialist charity provider of high quality health, well-being and drug prevention education working with primary schools across Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire, Lincolnshire, Bedford, Central Bedfordshire, Milton Keynes, Northamptonshire, Leicestershire and Rutland. Our aim is to equip young people with the knowledge, skills and confidence to make choices that will help them to live healthier, happier lives. We are a delivery partner of Coram life Education, the UK’s leading health and drug education organisation. Bringing health and well-being to life, our regularly updated programmes, keeping in line with demand and trends, have been created by child development experts to be stimuli-rich and interactive. This is achieved through puppetry, role play, and film clips to capture children’s imaginations and develop critical thinking and risk management skills. Nottinghamshire also works alongside Nottingham City Council and Inspire Learning to deliver courses to parents and carers.

KARATE Karate is a system of self defence and physical culture developed and refined in Okinawa and Japan. There are several styles of karate, they all use slightly different training methods and they all place varying degrees of emphasis on issues such as the speed, strength and range of techniques practised. Shotokan karate (our style) emphasises a balanced development of all these elements, taught within a system which instils confidence and self control. SOUTH NOTTS SHOTOKAN KARATE CLUB The club was established in Keyworth in 1985 by the senior instructor Rob Manning who is a 6th dan black belt and meets at South Wolds School, Keyworth. The club is affiliated to the KUGB (Karate Union of Great Britain) which is a democratic non-profit making organisation recognised by the official European and World governing bodies. TRENT SHOTOKAN KARATE CLUB One of the oldest clubs in the KUGB Trent SKC was established in 1976 and over the years has produced many black belts and enjoyed significant success in competitions. The club meets at Rushcliffe School in West Bridgford. The fundamental objective of both clubs is to develop the art, sport and practice of shotokan karate in South Nottinghamshire. They offer a friendly and welcoming environment for adults of any age, young people and children from six.

Courses All organisations should make sure that they have a sufficient number of employees who have undertaken the relevant first-aid training. Employers must ensure that their provision is ‘adequate and appropriate in the circumstances’. The best way to do this is by undertaking a risk assessment. If your unsure you can contact us for advice. It is the employers responsibility to decide what the requirements of the organisation are. This can be done by assessing any specific work hazards and ensuring that sufficient first-aid equipment, facilities and properly qualified personnel are available to deal with the consequences of these hazards. Also consider if your teams would benefit from Mental Health First Aid training. This could lower absenteeism and you could be awarded accreditation as positive mental health employer. Course Training Locations We have several training venues dependant on the particular course and quantity of delegates. We operate primarily within the district of Mansfield. But, we can travel internationally. Basic Life Support and safe use of an Automated External Defibrillator (RQF) Who is this qualification for? This qualification is aimed at individuals wishing to take further training or to develop their knowledge and skills in this basic life support. It is recommended for first-aiders in the workplace and is also suitable for schoolchildren, as recommended by The Resuscitation Council (UK). How long will it take? To complete this qualification learners should expect to undertake approximately 2-3 hours of learning, with a minimum contact time of 2 hours. Topics covered These include how to manage an unresponsive casualty who is breathing normally, how to manage an unresponsive casualty who is not breathing normally, and safe use an automated external defibrillator.
