Autism Partnership was established in 2000 to provide a comprehensive service to families and professionals caring for individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorders throughout the UK and the rest of the world. Our method is progressive Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA), based on an established and systematic research-based strategy, which has been scientifically proven to be the most effective intervention for Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). Autism Partnership are a non-profit company led by our site director, Zahira Ali, who holds a Masters in Neuroscience and is a Board Certified Behaviour Analyst (BCBA). Zahira has worked with children with ASD using ABA since 1998, and consults with families and schools in the UK and worldwide. As an organisation, we operate three therapy centres, located in Leeds and London, providing one-to-one instructional sessions, group sessions, and training workshops. We also provide consultation and training to schools and other agencies in the UK and across the globe. Our UK team consists of more than 20 staff, who all benefit from ongoing training and the expertise of our in-house consultants and supervisors. Our UK team is further supported by our US directors, Dr John McEachin and Dr Ron Leaf, who have more than 40 years of experience in autism intervention and are considered to be leading authorities in the field.

We collect waste wood from a variety of companies and businesses from firms that have pallets and wood packaging waste, local engineers, theatres, production companies through to private house renovations. We also work with large national building sites: the construction process continually generates so much waste wood, much of which is reusable so keeps our shop stock varied and sustainable. The wood is then brought back to our warehouse, processed and repurposed to sell to the public in our shop. Doing this is very labour-intensive so creates lots of jobs, training and volunteering opportunities, providing local people with new skills and confidence to find work and improve their lives. We aim to be part of the regeneration of our local area and provide a positive impact. Leeds Animation Workshop is a not-for-profit, cooperative company, run by women, which produces and distributes animated films and films on social and educational issues. The organisation began in 1976 as a group of women friends who came together to make a film about the need for pre-school childcare. After completing WHO NEEDS NURSERIES? - WE DO! the group was formally established in 1978 as Leeds Animation Workshop. Throughout its history the Workshop has been run by women, who have carried out all stages of the production process, from initial research to final distribution. The films are all produced in consultation with organisations and individuals involved in the relevant field. The Workshop specialises in making complex or sensitive issues more accessible to audiences, and at times offering an alternative point of view. As well as production and distribution, the Workshop has been involved in many other activities, such as organising screenings of films by women and black directors, and providing workshop sessions in basic animation for adults and young people.

The West Bowling Youth Initiative (WBYI) is a small charity and local voluntary sector organisation based in a multi-cultural area of Bradford. It was established in 1991 by local people to work with predominately young British Pakistani Muslim men, especially those who were at risk of offending. The initial project was supported by The Prince’s Trust and subsequently gained funding and backing from other charities, EU and government funding and ongoing support from the local authority. Over the last 25 years, WBYI has broadened its remit and has developed a strong reputation for successfully engaging hard to reach young people, including those excluded or struggling at school, ex-offenders and those in the criminal justice system and others facing a difficult transition to adulthood. WBYI currently works with a core age range of 13 to 25 year olds including, employment support programmes; alternative curriculum programmes for schools and crime prevention work through personal and social development projects. In addition, school holiday programmes and sports activities cater for local 7 to 13 year olds and increasingly there is a demand for volunteering and leisure activity.

The organisation was set up in 2000 as an independent charity to run a community facility. Since then it has gone from strength to strength by expanding the space available for activities and delivering its own services such as childcare, adult learning health and well-being projects. Outline below is our story: 1999 - In 1999, with the closure and demolition of the Foundry Street youth club, a meeting was held by representatives of local Ravensthorpe based community groups about the possibility of acquiring a building for general community use. After many meetings and discussions between them and Kirklees Council, it was agreed that if representatives could come together to form a group, Kirklees Council would support them in acquiring and running a community building through available European SRB Grant funding. With St Johns Ambulance Centre looking for new premises their building came up for sale, it was purchased by the newly formed group in 1999 and renamed as the Ravensthorpe Community Centre. 2000 - The building underwent a series of alterations to make it more suitable for use as a community centre, the building had disabled ramps put in and the rooms were changed to make then suitable for community use. In May 2000 the building was officially opened by Mayor of Kirkless. The building subsequently became very popular with regular users such as a wide range of community groups, the local further education college holding learning classes and a local provider delivering crèche facilities.
