We are experts in positive psychology, drawing on the science to create programmes to increase wellbeing, strengthen resilience, develop a positive mindset and other ingredients that lead to happiness and success. Under the Training tab you’ll find two menus showing you the kind of courses we offer. The Wellbeing menu has a range of options for greater wellbeing. The Work menu covers the in-house training we deliver into organisational settings to help people function at their best, maintain their wellbeing at work and achieve success. Positive Psychology Training was founded by Miriam Akhtar MAPP in 2010 to put positive psychology into practice and has become one of the leading providers of positive psychology training and coaching in the UK. Our clients range across the business and not-for-profit sectors along with social enterprises and include healthcare, financial services, the creative industries, education, green business, environment, defence, law and the media. As we move into our second decade the focus is on how positive psychology can help people perform at their best, help businesses to grow and provide a scientifically-based solution to many of the challenges that organisations face. We also run short, open courses combining the essential knowledge and practical tools of positive psychology in a format that works for busy lives. These courses went online during the pandemic. The Positive Psychology Masterclass has an introductory course based on the PERMA model and an advanced course on positive psychology at work. The Positive Psychology Foundations is now available to buy as a package with recorded webinars and other resources.

Expectations and aspirations are high here and we are committed to developing the young people in our care, whatever their talents. Children of all abilities succeed at this school and are encouraged to develop academically, physically and spiritually, fulfilling their potential in a happy, caring environment. When Ofsted last visited, it commented: “The all-pervading caring ethos ensures that pupils are happy and able to thrive from the moment they arrive at school. Pupils are very keen to share their pleasure of being at school and went out of their way to let inspectors know.” That is every bit as true today as it was then. Examination performance is very strong. At A level, students reach exceptional levels in a thriving Sixth Form of 350 students. Students routinely progress to Russell Group universities, including year-on-year to Oxford and Cambridge. In 2022, two students progressed to Oxford and Cambridge to read medicine, with a further moving to Oxford to study mathematics; in addition, one student is embarking on a degree in veterinary science. We are proud of the numbers of students who move on to university education, typically around 75% each year, and even more delighted in the variety of subjects that are chosen, following a rich A level experience here. Increasing numbers are also progressing to some prestigious higher-level apprenticeships, including one this year in software engineering with Lockheed Martin. At GCSE, students also perform well, both in value-added terms and in raw attainment. As a consequence, we have large numbers moving in to our Sixth Form, complemented every year with a number of students from other schools who choose to join us for their A level programme. Ofsted confirmed the strength in pastoral care alongside provision for purposeful learning by adding that we “have established a school that holds the academic success and emotional well-being of each pupil at its heart.” As a parent of four children myself, I am acutely aware of the increasing importance of education in today’s world and the role that we, as teachers, have to play in developing our children so that they are fully equipped to make positive contributions to society. The staff at Sheldon School are extremely committed and dedicated to ensure that this is the case and I am personally determined to see all children flourish here. I also value enormously the links between school and home, success being built on strong partnerships with parents and ourselves. ‘I don’t remember where I lost myself but I do when I chose to be found’ This is how my story begins in the international best seller ‘Reclaiming your Midlife Mojo’ It has been said that owning your story is the most powerful thing you can do. That I agree with, all be it, vulnerably uncomfortable! For you here’s a little back story … For YEARS I was in survival mode Forever juggling, lost in the to do list, functioning but not LIVING My life was a performance. I was an actress & a good one Playing an extrovert when I am an introvert Out going, out there, when my soul was crying for solitude The signs were all there, all masked and ignored I hid the pain, the deep rotted sadness, stuffed them down, to grow roots those roots go so deep that I was literally ‘rooted’ … forced to stop, nothing left, light out & in truth wanted out. A presence greater than me lifted me that day and life began to change It was the wake up call I needed to stop blocking, hiding and running and to come home to me. It was not an easy or comfortable journey but one I would do again in a heart beat. That was 8 years ago. Since that day I followed the cosmic bread crumbs and trusted where I was guided I bought a caravan by the sea, trained in yoga, hired (my ‘first’ ) coach, became a coach, and continued to learn/ certify/invest in healing modalities/ trainings that felt like a YES in my body.
