The school has a very proud history and can trace its roots back to 1904 and the establishment of the Pupil Teacher Centre in Abbey Road. Even in those days overcrowding was a problem and Torquay Secondary School, as it had become, was opened in Barton Road in April 1915 with 170 boys. We remained at Barton Road until 1983 when we moved to our purpose built site here at Shiphay. At that time we had 750 boys in four Houses; now we have 1120 boys and girls in six houses (girls studying the International Baccalaureate are part of our sixth form) so extensive building programmes have taken place in the last 30 years or so to keep our facilities up-to-date and to provide a suitable environment for learning of the highest quality to take place. The school now stands as one of the top 20 boys’ schools in the country and is forever moving forward in the drive to providing an education, both academic and cultural, to rival that found anywhere in the country. We became a Grant Maintained School in 1993, were given Specialist Status in 1996, Foundation Status in 1997, Leading Edge in 2000, Beacon Status, High Performing Specialist Status in 2006, became part of the South West Academic Trust in 2008, granted Academy Status in 2010 and we became a Multi-Academy Trust in 2012 when we sponsored Torquay Academy in their bid for Academy status. Along the way we have undergone three OFSTED inspections and been found to be outstanding each time. We are rightly proud of our school and hope the website gives a flavour of just why we are so successful in providing an excellent well-rounded education to our students.

We have two sites, one is Dalston and one in Tower Hamlets. A week of fun, play, creativity, games and lots of arts & crafts to boost your child's confidence, expand their creativity, cultivate their sense of calm and most importantly, have lots of fun. Every week is centered around a different theme so your child will always be doing something fun, new and exciting each holiday. The children will learn a wide range of different art & craft techniques and make unique and ambitious artwork that they are always proud to take home. Combining our circus skills workshops, circus show, treasure hunts and party of the last day, it is the fun-filled week bursting with creativity that your child will want to come back to. Art & Circus holiday camp located at: Columbia Primary School, 49-53 Columbia Rd, London E2 7RH Holy Trinity Primary School, Beechwood Road, London E8 3DY What to expect, our daily schedule: 8.30 - Early drop off option 9.00 - Children arrive, make a name badge and be put into their bubbles 9.15 - Morning stretching activity - consisting of body movement, mindfulness & breathing exercises and fun dancing games to help prepare everyone for the day 9.30 - First activity - A unique art activity around the current theme 10.30 - First break - Children have a snack and play outdoors 11.00 - Continue with the first art activity 12.00 - Lunch Break - Children eat their lunches* and play games 1.00 - Second art activity - Making the second piece of artwork or learning a circus skill 2.00 - Second break - Children are offered some organic fruit and juice and children can play outdoors 2.30 - Continue with second activity or practice new circus skill 3.15 - End of the day routine - Musical statues to end every day. On the last day of the week, we have a party which includes: obstacle course games, a treasure hunt and prizes for all children! 3.30 - End of day - parents/guardians come and collect their children from the venue 3.45 - Third break - children are able to play games outside on the terrace, draw, play board games and watch 15 minutes of a children’s film for the end of the day. 5.00 - Late pick-up option - parents/guardians come and collect their children from the venue New exciting themes each week so your child will always be making something unique and fun. The Wise Owls Care Club was established in 1997 and provides a Breakfast Club and After School Club for pupils of Our Lady & St Werburgh's School, as well as a Holiday Club for children living in the local community. The club is Ofsted registered, is owned and run by Mr & Mrs Mogg. The club offers a safe, caring, stimulating and fun environment and provides a wealth of indoor and outdoor activities to suit all ages and interests. The emphasis is on fun and learning through play to develop social skills and boost confidence. A programme of activities is developed for each session. All children are different and each and every one is valued by the Wise Owls Team, who will endeavour to meet their individual needs. Amanda King began her career as a primary teacher in Buckinghamshire schools where she worked for thirteen years as a class teacher, subject leader and member of senior leadership teams. She was judged to be an excellent teacher by Ofsted. In 2004 she was awarded a Masters Degree with distinction in Education (Language and Literacy) and shortly afterwards was appointed as a Primary National Strategy Literacy Consultant for Oxfordshire. In this role she has provided support and training for schools across the county, improving practice and raising attainment in all aspects of literacy and learning. An accredited Consultant for Improvement, Amanda now works as an independent consultant specialising in the learning, teaching and assessment of literacy and the wider application of literacy and learning across the curriculum.
