Stockton Sixth Form College

Stockton-on-Tees

Stockton Sixth Form College has built an exceptional reputation for academic achievement over many years and, as the only specialist sixth form college in Stockton on Tees, has over 40 years’ experience delivering A-level, BTEC and GCSE qualifications to students aged 16-19 from across the region. In 2016, we became the first sixth form college in 18 years to merge, when we formalised our working partnership with Prior Pursglove College. The merger helped safeguard sixth form college education in each respective borough and now enables us to move forward in a strong position to fulfil our vision of offering high quality education across a wide range of courses in a welcoming and inclusive environment. Ofsted judged Stockton Sixth Form to be a ‘Good’ college across all areas in its latest report, noting “high success rates across all levels of study” and “very effective support for students”. Inspectors commented on “lively and dynamic” learning facilitated by staff who “motivate students strongly to complete high quality work to fulfil their potential”. You can read the full report here. The college has a vibrant, diverse and friendly environment with around 600 students. We are committed to providing inspirational teaching led by staff who are specialists in their field. The small and inclusive nature of the college enables us to keep class sizes to a minimum – an average of 15 students per lesson – ensuring each student is given the individual support needed to excel. It is our focus on developing students into all-round individuals that enables students to secure their next step successfully. Ofsted recognised that the college “prepares students well for progression to their next steps” and that “all completing students had a positive destination to either further or higher education or employment”. Progression on to higher education from Stockton Sixth Form College bucks the national trend and we also offer a prestigious scholarship opportunity for students who achieve a place to study at Oxbridge.

Torquay Boys' Grammar School

Torquay

The school has a very proud history and can trace its roots back to 1904 and the establishment of the Pupil Teacher Centre in Abbey Road. Even in those days overcrowding was a problem and Torquay Secondary School, as it had become, was opened in Barton Road in April 1915 with 170 boys. We remained at Barton Road until 1983 when we moved to our purpose built site here at Shiphay. At that time we had 750 boys in four Houses; now we have 1120 boys and girls in six houses (girls studying the International Baccalaureate are part of our sixth form) so extensive building programmes have taken place in the last 30 years or so to keep our facilities up-to-date and to provide a suitable environment for learning of the highest quality to take place. The school now stands as one of the top 20 boys’ schools in the country and is forever moving forward in the drive to providing an education, both academic and cultural, to rival that found anywhere in the country. We became a Grant Maintained School in 1993, were given Specialist Status in 1996, Foundation Status in 1997, Leading Edge in 2000, Beacon Status, High Performing Specialist Status in 2006, became part of the South West Academic Trust in 2008, granted Academy Status in 2010 and we became a Multi-Academy Trust in 2012 when we sponsored Torquay Academy in their bid for Academy status. Along the way we have undergone three OFSTED inspections and been found to be outstanding each time. We are rightly proud of our school and hope the website gives a flavour of just why we are so successful in providing an excellent well-rounded education to our students.

Fulford York

Childhood is a precious time and our popular school provides a warm and nurturing environment from birth to age 16. Rated “Good” by Ofsted [https://www.yorksteinerschool.org/about-our-school/inspections/] in all areas, we start with our beautiful Gentle Beginnings [https://www.yorksteinerschool.org/gentle-beginnings/] groups: a calm supportive space to nourish your relationship with your new baby (up to 18 months), under the gentle guidance of holistic Early Years specialist, Dorothy Marlen. [https://www.dorothymarlen.net/] (First session is free). From here our families move on to Parent and Child Sessions [https://www.yorksteinerschool.org/parent-and-toddler/] (up to age 3 ½) in an exciting room full of enriching play equipment and interesting places to explore - with craft activities, songs, storytelling and puppet shows and a home-made meal where the children help prepare the food and lay the table. After this, many families choose to join one of our four wonderful Kindergartens [https://www.facebook.com/YorkSteinerSchool/posts/pfbid0UKjzUzTGZ3mMY7dZJuqs3vkj31ZA45MeJHBk5UmX5wLpC2cebgUa5VjwFzUXRU3jl] in the main school. In all our groups and classes, numbers are kept deliberately small so we can fully support each individual child. This means we are often oversubscribed – please book early! You can contact us at any time to discuss your child  or pop along to one of our Open Days and Enquirers’ Mornings where a warm welcome awaits: jo@yorksteinerschool.org [jo@yorksteinerschool.org]  or: 01904 654983 www.yorksteinerschool.org [www.yorksteinerschool.org] “Pupils here feel safe and to a very high degree, happy.” Ofsted
