About this Training Course This five-day training course will cover aspects of FPSO operations with an emphasis on management of safety. A background of the methodology used to generate the various safety plans and codes used in the operational safety case will be covered. The course will also review general operational guidelines in the offshore environment to ensure that the operations are completed as designed. This will include offtake operations and maintenance processes for the plant and vessel as well as a session on subsea. Training Objectives To enable participants to obtain an in-depth understanding of FPSO operations, safety and maintenance: Provide a broad overview of how an FPSO operation is set up and established in the field Grasp the various methods used to moor the production units Analyse information and methods required to establish the operation according to local and international regulations. Assess the methods used to calculate the safety parameters and requirements to construct an approved valid safety case Explore conditions to monitor during operations with regards to safety and structure Inspect various types of hazards associated with production and produced materials Review regular and emergency operational maintenance requirements Examine cyclones and weather events causing disconnection Comprehend manning, training requirements and operations including cargo Case studies and Exercises: The training course uses real life examples and case studies to explain the setup, preparation, implementation and operational activities required to successfully complete FPSO operations from a safety and maintenance perspective. This will allow the application of participants' newly-acquired knowledge. Case studies also stimulate independent thinking and discussion among the participants. Integrated Field Development Planning for Offshore Fields

About this Virtual Instructor Led Training (VILT) This Virtual Instructor Led Training (VILT) course is designed with the aim of showing the degree of integration necessary in developing an offshore petroleum discovery, from field appraisal to development. The 5 half-day VILT course gives a comprehensive account of the methodology, processes and techniques utilised in developing an offshore oil or gas discovery. Technically, integration of expected reservoir behavior, well planning and design, and facilities concepts and selection are exemplified through detailed case histories, group discussions and exercises. Commercial aspects related to overall project evaluation are also covered. Training Objectives Course participants will obtain a comprehensive understanding of key aspects of offshore field development, from appraisal through to development planning and leading up to sanction. The VILT course covers the three key elements: reservoirs, wells and facilities, and covers the integration of these with commercial aspects, and the required management aspects, including uncertainty and risk. Target Audience This VILT course is designed for project managers, field development and planning engineers, asset managers, petroleum engineers, reservoir engineers as well as field geoscientists and managers who have an interest in or are involved in field development feasibility and planning. In particular, this VILT course would be of interest to managers leading multidisciplinary and diverse functional teams. Course Level Basic or Foundation Training Methods The VILT course will be delivered online in 5 half-day sessions comprising 4 hours per day, with 2 breaks of 10 minutes per day. Course Duration: 5 half-day sessions, 4 hours per session (20 hours in total). Trainer Trainer 1: Your first expert course leader is a specialist in reservoir engineering, field development planning and petroleum management. Having worked for over 40 years in the petroleum industry, his most recent full-time position was Chief Operating Officer and Project Director for AED Oil and East Puffin (2007-09) for the Puffin offshore development, Timor Sea. Prior to his academic career (2001-2006), commencing in 2001 as head of the new School of Petroleum Engineering and Management at the UA, he worked for 16 years for BHP Petroleum (now BHP Billiton), most recently as Chief Reservoir Engineer for their worldwide operations. Other positions with BHP Billiton involved mainly technical and project management, and general management positions, including member of the BHP Board. He was project manager (feasibility) for two FPSO projects, the Skua and Griffin area fields, offshore Australia. He was also the Technical Manager for the Dai Hung project, offshore Vietnam where first oil was achieved in just 18 months from sanction. Before that time, he worked for Shell International (8 years) in the Netherlands, including two years as Senior Lecturer Reservoir Engineering at Shell's training centre and in Australia, seconded to Woodside Energy, with a key role in Australia's largest capital project (at the time), the Northwest Shelf Gas development. He started his career in Calgary, Canada, first with Hudson's Bay Oil and Gas and subsequently with the US consulting company, Scientific Software Corporation. He holds a BSc degree in Physics from the University of British Columbia and a MS degree in Nuclear Engineering from Stanford University. He has been an active member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers, including Director for the Asia-Pacific region (1996-98) and as a member of the Board. He was an SPE Distinguished Lecturer during 2001-02 and a PESA Distinguished Lecturer during 2002. He has lectured at many institutions and was a visiting professor at Stanford University in 2000. He has published over 50 papers on both technical and managerial topics. His professional interests are in optimal planning and project management of offshore petroleum discoveries. His primary research interests are in the area of special core analysis and the development of predictive models for reservoir characterisation. Trainer 2: Your other course leader is currently an independent consultant and trainer after 37 years in the upstream petroleum industry. His previous roles included Chief Geologist for GALP Energy, Consultant/ Head of Exploration for Qatar Petroleum, Technical/ Asset Manager for SASOL, and various technical and technical management roles in BHP Billiton Petroleum and Chevron. He managed/ executed many projects in diverse locations: West Grimes gas field development - California; Port Arguello heavy oil development - offshore California; exploration & development projects - Nigeria; Tengiz field early development, Korolev appraisal - Kazakhstan; Nkossa field development, Moho/ Bilondo exploration - offshore Congo; PNG divestment, Bayu-Undan LNG development - Australia; Ohanet acquisition, appraisal & development - Algeria; Pande development, Pande/ Temane gas plant expansion & near field exploration - Mozambique; Pre-Khuff (HP/HT) exploration, multiple blocks & operators - Qatar; Coral/ Mamba appraisal - Mozambique; Blocks 14/32 exploration & development - Angola; exploration & appraisal - onshore & offshore Brazil. He has an MSc in Geophysics from Stanford, an MBA from St. Mary's College of California, and a BSc in Geology (Honors) from Western Illinois University. He is a member of SEG, AAPG, SPE, PESGB, and PESA and is a Fellow of the Energy Institute (UK). One Shared Owner: artists talking about creating collaborative space and sustainability with SaltSpace and Vanilla Ink Join us for a conversation exploring how artist-led initiatives are set up, why they are necessary and perhaps most importantly how they evolve and sustain themselves over time.  SaltSpace and Vanilla Ink will be sharing their experiences setting up as a Cooperative and Community Interest Company; and how they operate as an artist led space and community for creative practitioners.  SaltSpace will be hosting Dr Deborah Jackson, Head of Fine Art Critical Studies at the Glasgow School of Art, and Ellie Smith-Barratt, Chief Executive Officer at Vanilla Ink. Both Deborah and Ellie will be sharing their experiences with artist-led initiatives, thinking about the topic of sustaining creative spaces and communities in Scotland, with a specific focus on supports for early career practitioners in Glasgow and more broadly across Scotland.  This conversation will be an opportunity to think about the transitional space of moving from student to graduate and into practicing as a professional artist. We will be talking about supports for recent graduates and early career artists in the form of organisations and initiatives set up by / for recent graduates due to the lack of support system often provided by institutions. We will be thinking about the need to support collaboration and foster community during that time, and what mechanisms of support are in place for this, and how we can improve and strengthen these supports. Context: This event is co-hosted and supported by the Scottish Artist Union, artist and researcher Chris Biddlecombe, will be providing an overview of his key findings from the ‘Artist-Led Organisations in Scotland: Survey and Mapping of Activity' research report, which has been undertaken by Scottish Artist Union on behalf of Creative Scotland.  The event has been developed in conversation with Dr Marianne Greated, Academic Development Lead, School of Fine Art, Glasgow School of Art who has a longstanding interest in developing artist led collaborations and how this can be supported through the Glasgow School of Art curriculum.  About SaltSpace: SaltSpace is a creative cooperative based in Glasgow which aims to provide a supportive platform for new graduates and early year creatives as a stepping-stone into their artistic career. Currently we offer studio spaces across two premises in Glasgow city in Dornoch Street and the Axiom Building and a gallery/community space in the Axiom Building on 54 Washington Street.  About Vanilla Ink: Vanilla Ink is a Community Interest Company with creative jewellery workshops in Glasgow and Banff. They offer a diverse range of resources and programmes tailored to empower and support emerging talent, giving members access to the fully equipped jewellery studios, tools and bench space. The emphasis is on providing a supportive environment for jewellers to develop their skills and confidence. Blantyre Soccer Academy is a registered charity SC 043613 whose objectives are to advance public participation in amateur sport of football by promoting the game of football through the provision of recreational facilities and activities. To improve the fitness and health of the persons for whom the facilities/activities are primarily intended and to provide a safe environment to encourage and promote the development of football, health, self-esteem and friendship within the community of Blantyre and its environs. This is achieved with age groups of children from 3 years to 19 years of age also an adult amateur team and an over 35’s team. We also are a Full Disability Club and provide a full player pathway. In our R & C, the committee of the Academy outline the genesis, rationale, objectives and future proposed development of the association and where we see ourselves progressing towards in the short, medium and long term. WE ARE A REAL COMMUNITY CLUB - "Building a Better Blantyre One Person at a Time" Blantyre Soccer Academy as a whole has, since its inception in 2010, been organised and run solely by volunteer coaches and administrative staff and exists as a non-profit making venture. As a self-funded organisation of volunteers we of course rely very much so on the goodwill of the local community we seek to serve. We aim to provide facilities and equipment and it will be available to anyone irrespective of race, colour, religion, sex, sexuality or disabilities. We aim to promote a respect for diversity and encourage people to take pride in themselves and their team mates through the game of football. As such we source sponsorship from local sympathetic businesses and other individuals who share the mission aims of our project. Like all such organisations which exist and thrive and are dependent on the goodwill of the local community, we are always seeking to source alternative mechanisms for funding so as to ensure our organisation continues to thrive and play a vital role in our local community in terms of social cohesion and integration. Blantyre Soccer Academy plays a highly significant role in providing diversionary activities, interventions and opportunities for young people in the Blantyre area, although we stress we are not limited solely too young people from Blantyre and positively welcome those from other districts to participate in all our activities. We strive to promote positive living, nutrition, discipline and exercise and in-still in our young people the advantages of a healthy lifestyle. Blantyre Soccer Academy seeks to provide our young people with positive role models and regularly invites successful sports persons to visit our young people so as to encourage them to participate in the diversionary and positive activities promoted by our club. Blantyre Soccer Academy is, in line with our attempt is currently seeking to increase our participation numbers to 500+ active young people over the next 12 months.
