Night Rating If you want to fly in the hours of darkness you will need to add a night qualification to your licence. This involves 10 hours of instrument flying and 5 hours of flying at night. You will practice night navigation techniques, in flight emergencies and how to deal with them, flight by sole reference to instruments, airfield night lighting and procedure and pre-flight decision making. Course Prerequisites Licence Held: PPL(H) Minimum Flying Hours: 100 hrs after licence issue which must include 60hrs Pilot in Command. 20hrs Cross Country. Course Duration: Must be complete within 6 months of starting. When is Night? It may seem like a silly question but there is a legal definition for aviation purposes, and that is half an hour after sunset to half an hour before sunrise.

Edinburgh Night Photography Lesson. Join this One-to-One, two hour, night photography lesson in Edinburgh's historic old town!

When the sun sets it doesn’t mean that you need to stop taking photographs. The Night Time Experience is designed for photographers who understand the fundamentals of exposure and now want to explore creativity in a different way. A tripod is a must for night-time photography as we look at different ways you can use the available light from the street, vehicles or even the stars to illuminate a scene and create a terrific image that you would want to share. The workshop is very much reliant on the dry weather as we will usually be working with long exposures and some aspects, such as star trails, require a cloudless evening so whilst the agenda for the session isn’t fixed, the techniques you will learn can be applied to many other forms of low light photography. To get the most benefit from this workshop you will need to understand how to use the manual functions on your camera. If you are unsure, we would recommend you attend the Switch to Manual session first. About Ideal if you understand how to set the exposure of your camera manually. Look at different ways of using light to make exciting and interesting photographs as the daylight disappears. Experience level - Intermediate What to Bring You will need a camera that you can set the exposure manually A good sturdy tripod. It is helpful to have a wide-angle lens and a long zoom, although if you only have a kit-lens then that will still be fine for this workshop The timing for this workshop is flexible on the conditions, it will last somewhere between 3 and 4 hours. Ensure your camera batteries are fully charged and consider having a spare An empty memory card, we’ll take about 150 photographs during the session.

The Night Rating can be added to a PPL or LAPL, once completed, the rating permits you to fly at night under certain conditions. Once started, the rating must be completed in 6 months, from the start date. Take to the night skies and enjoy a total different and unique flying experience. Our night flying training will lead to an additional rating for your PPL or LAPL pilot licence allowing you to fly at night. We would love to join you on your new challenge as a qualified pilot. Paint Some Pottery With Your Friends! These adult-only painting sessions run every month 6.30-9. 30pm. Pay for your chosen seat/table inc studio fee, welcome drink, half a large pizza, salad and coleslaw, dessert, coffee & mints. Select an item of pottery to paint on the night (sold seperately) and enjoy your evening. Our studio team will be on hand to offer advice, tips and suggestions on techniques that may help you where you want it. These evenings are relaxed and friendly and the ideal opportunity to have some fun in a creative atmosphere! 😁 Please note once painted your pottery will be glazed & fired and ready for collection 7-10 days later. You are welcome to BYOB on the night (glasses and ice provided at no extra charge). If you have a big appetite & would like a full Pizza please add this on at checkout. Menu will be sent with Pizza & Dessert choices once booked. The Pizza's are from Monte Cristo, a local restaurant.
