Once complete, it provides an excellent foundation for further study for those looking to pursue a career in health and safety and gain qualifications accredited by the National Examination Board in Occupational Safety and Health (NEBOSH) or NVQ Course Programme and Duration The IOSH Managing Safely course takes three full days to complete and covers, in detail, the core responsibilities of anyone tasked with managing workplace health and safety. Those responsibilities are covered in seven distinct units of study: Unit 1: Introducing managing safely Unit 2: Assessing risks Unit 3: Controlling risks Unit 4: Understanding responsibilities Unit 5: Understanding hazards Unit 6: Investigating incidents Unit 7: Measuring Performance To help prepare candidates for end-of-course examinations, daily interactive homework assignments and quizzes will also be set by the tutor. Certification In order to successfully complete the course and gain IOSH certification, delegates must complete a 45-minute examination to assess their learning and carry out a practical assessment to demonstrate the application of knowledge gained. Who Should Attend This course is aimed at candidates that require the knowledge to enable them to comply with working at height regulations, and go in depth into industry dangers and respectability when working at height.  This course can be completed by both novice and experienced candidates. We also offer refresher tests. Novice course- 1/2 day Experienced worker tests- 1/2 day. Course information Category N404 Safe Working At Height It is envisaged that by the end of this course of training the learner will be able to answer questions on and perform the following: ➢ Have a basic understanding of the industry, the dangers of working in the industry and their responsibilities when working at height ➢ Be able to define height work and identify the hazards of work above ground level and outline the general requirements necessary to control them ➢ Be able to identify accident causation in work at height ➢ Have an appreciation of planning and organisation of work at height ➢ Set up exclusion zone explaining actions required for emergency actions, identifying any overhead hazards ➢ Identify and maintain PPE appropriate for safe working at height use ➢ Demonstrate working at height and explain all safety issues that could arise Assessment Assessment will be to NPORS standards consisting of a theory test.

This qualification is designed for those learners wishing to become a paediatric first aider in the workplace with a responsibility for the welfare of infants and children. Learners gaining this qualification will know that first aid is the responsibility of everyone involved in the working environment. Topics within this qualification meet the requirements for Paediatric first aid outlined in the Early Years Foundation Stage 2014 as being important to maintaining safe and effective practice when providing treatment of injuries and ill health of infants and children who are under the care of trained personnel. How long will it take me to achieve this qualification? This is a 3 credit qualification, with a guided learning hour’s value of 22 and it has a minimum contact time of 12 hours, which is typically delivered via a 2 day course. How is the qualification assessed? Learners must undertake a practical assessment of their competence along with a short open response knowledge assessment, where learners are required to provide a short response to a prescribed series of questions. What next? This qualification lasts for a period of 3 years, after which point learners will need to retake the course. Topics within this qualification are regarded by the Health & Safety Executive (HSE) as being important in maintaining good practice in the safe, prompt and effective treatment of injuries and ill health in the workplace. How long will it take me to achieve this qualification? This is a 1 credit qualification, with a guided learning hour’s value of 8 and it has a minimum contact time of 6 hours, which is typically delivered via a 1 day course. How is the qualification assessed? Learners must undertake a practical assessment of their competence along with a short open response knowledge assessment, where learners are required to provide a short response to a prescribed series of questions. What next? In line with guidance provided by the HSE, the qualification supports/approves work place emergency first aiders for a period of 3 years, after which point learners will need to retake the course.
