Featuring a career-best performance from Chloe Grace Moretz, we follow Cameron's journey of self-discovery in mid-90s America, as she's sent to a gay conversion camp. Under the strict enforcement of anti-LGBT teachings, Cameron learns to grow and be defiant in her own quiet way, whilst bonding with her peers. A powerful film in the mode of John Hughes, you won't want to miss this screening. After the film we'll head to The Landor pub next door where we'll discuss what we've seen over some drinks. Date: Monday 16th October Time: 4pm Location: Studio A Join us again for CFS Film Club, as this week we visit one of the essential independent films of the last decade, 2016's Best Picture Winner Moonlight. Barry Jenkins' tender masterpiece explores the LGBT identity within wider African-American culture, with stunning imagery, sensational performances and a wondrous score. Follow the story of Chiron, a teenager growing up in the Miami ghetto, dealing with his sexuality and drug-addict mother. Tickets are free to this event, and be sure to join us in The Landor pub afterwards to discuss the film together.

DATE: Monday 15th July TIME: 12:30pm LOCATION: Studio A We will be hosting a meeting to see how many students would be interested in a potential school trip to the Berlin International Film (Berlinale) festival next year, in Spring 2025. Organised by Mark de Valk and Conrad Pollock, this trip will offer you the chance to get to the heart of both the European Film Industry and one of the world's coolest, most vibrant cities. The Berlinale is one of the most prestigious film festivals active today, and you'll be exposed to new releases from around the world, make international connections and get to explore a European capital that's rich in history and culture. Currently we are looking at 5 days and 4 nights overall, with group travel and accommodation together. If you are interested, please join us for this meeting. This trip is open to all CFS students on all courses, and booking will likely take place in Autumn term. Please note, the trip's viability is subject to a minimum number of sign-ups (amount tbc).

This is a practical workshop to help you understand more about how anxiety, perfectionism and procrastination can get in the way of getting stuff done. Whether you are a starter or into your final year after, It is timed to help you prepare for your first written assignment and set you up for the year ahead, without all the angst that can really hold you back from enjoying your college studies and life. You may feel that no one else struggles as much as you do over getting work submitted. By sharing ideas and tips together in small groups of 2 or 3, you may be surprised by how much you have in common with your fellow students and how much you can learn from each other.
