Over the past 15 years, ABC Creative Music has developed innovative cost-effective Nursery, Primary & ASN/SEN music programmes, delivered on interactive whiteboards and/or resource packs- with highly successful training programmes for non-specialist teachers. Founded by leading Jazz Musicians Tom and Phil Bancroft, and developed in classrooms across Scotland, ABC programmes engineer grown-up musical creativity into child-friendly resources- with three important results: 1: Smart activity design guarantees clear coherent musical outcomes that excite children and communicate with audiences. As children grow, their music making develops in sophistication, but is always clear, fun and entertaining. 2: Simple activity interfaces leave children with real control of creative decision-making- generating engagement and a strong sense of ownership of the musical outcomes. 3: Simple resource design, with the clever stuff 'under the hood', means non-specialist teachers can deliver all programmes effectively, whether or not they are confident in teaching music.

Erin Whyte (founder and teacher) – I started my love of music at a young age and began classical training from the age of 14. After leaving school I went on to study popular singing at Jewel and Esk College on their HND Music course. During these 2 years I sang in bands and in choirs and my passion for performing was born. From here I went on to focus on my classical voice at Edinburgh Napier University where I studied on their BMus (hons) course for 4 years. I gained a lot of experience singing solo and in small groups which really helped build my self-confidence. I have worked with children for over 16 years, starting out shadowing a music teacher in primary schools. This is where I found my love for teaching music to young children. Knowing I wanted to work with children I left retail and started working at Newtongrange After School Club. From here I began working as a Learning Assistant at Stockbridge Primary School and worked at their After School Club. Following the birth of my son in 2014 I gave up work to be a full time Mum. With lots more free time I could take him to classes for little ones where I met some of my best friends, and Charlie did too. I found out how invaluable these classes were for both child and carer and realised that this was the environment I wanted to work in. In 2015 I became a teacher for Monkey Music. Here I learnt how to really work with babies and toddlers and grow relationships with them and their carers. My dream for a long time has been to combine my passions for singing, music and working with young children. With the arrival of our daughter Katie at the start of 2017 I am finally back to work and realising that dream. I think it’s highly important to have affordable and educational classes for babies, toddlers and pre-schoolers in and around local areas, not only for the little ones to make friends, but for the adults to meet people from the community too. Music is a great tool to bring people together and also encourages self-confidence which is an important factor in a young person’s life.n

Edinburgh School of Music is an independent music school based in Edinburgh city centre. We are a team of highly experienced, enthusiastic and professional teachers who provide music lessons in a wide range of instruments. Our goal at ESM is to bring the love of music into all our student's lives in a fun and enjoyable way as well as providing all the necessary skills to pass exams, perform with confidence and compose music and songs. We are very proud to maintain a 100% pass rate in all our student's instrumental and vocal music exams making us Edinburgh's favourite music school for private music lessons. One - to - one tuition Lessons are available for a range of instruments including voice, piano, guitar, violin, viola, cello, saxophone, clarinet, flute, recorder and drums. We offer one to one private lessons in our studio in Meadowbank or online lessons. Groups We offer a range of music group activities including our Baby music groups (for ages 0-5), youth singing groups, performance coaching workshops and summer school music groups. Please contact us to find out the groups that are currently available. Concerts At ESM we believe that learning to make incredible music is just not as rewarding if you don’t share it with others. We provide monthly showcases at Edinburgh's Jazz Bar in addition to end of term concerts. This gives our students plenty of opportunities to showcase their progress and develops our pupils into confident performers. Unfortunately, due to current restrictions surrounding concerts, we are unable to host any concerts at this time.

Bria began teaching Gaelic to adults in 2017. She strives to share her love of the language through creative and enthusiastic teaching. She has taught all levels of Gaelic language, from Beginner to Advanced. She has been leading Gaelic song classes and workshops for over a decade, both on her own and as part of outreach duo Glaikit Carnyx. Bria has also been leading nature walks and workshops, sharing her love and knowledge of nature and its relationship with Gaelic culture for several years.
