“Music is the movement of sound to reach the soul for the education of its virtue.” - Plato Our Music Production Masterclass is a 2-day course led by music producer and Musical Theatre student, Jack Howells Davies, alongside a secondary Music Production tutor (TBC). With experience in music technology, composing, producing music for video, film scoring, composition and more, Jack’s expertise will help guide budding music producers on their journey to creating amazing music for a variety of formats.  Jack is currently studying a BA in Musical Theatre at the Conservatoire, and also has professional training at Hurtwood House, Guildford School of Acting and Stagecoach in a number of musical styles and genres, as well as experience in musical theatre audition technique, so he is a great asset to our teaching faculty who can advise in a number of areas. When you join this 2-day intensive course, you’ll learn the art of production which can help every type of creative to showcase their musical talents in the best way. This course will help students develop skills to produce music for outlets such as film and television soundtracks, and music videos, and musicians will even have the opportunity to write and play contemporary music for performance. ‍ WHEN AND WHERE? The Music Production Masterclass takes place in Cranleigh Arts Centre, around 20 minutes from Guildford. A SPECIALISED DRAMA COURSE FOR 11-21 YEAR OLDS, LED BY INDUSTRY PROFESSIONALS In2Drama’s signature course is our Summer Academy for young aspiring performers wishing to carve out a career in the performing arts, or simply to explore a new hobby. Our action-packed 5 day course includes over 35 hours of masterclasses taught by industry professionals, and ends with a live public performance in front of peers and parents.  Whether you’re an experienced performer and need to be pushed outside of your comfort zone, or are nervous to step out in front of an audience for the first time, we can help you increase your confidence and have you performing with ease! The In2Drama faculty is made up of some of the very best talent in the industry with excellent connections to UK drama schools as well as professional film, TV and theatre contacts for anyone looking to take the next step in their learning journey. ‍ WHEN AND WHERE? Our lower age group offers all of the below modules with a focus on developing skills, having fun with friends and performing for family. 16-21 year olds: This group is suitable for 16-21 year olds who would like a future in the performing arts. While still suitable for those who want to have fun, the courses will be focused on perfecting audition skills for casting calls and drama school applications. ‍ WHAT YOU’LL LEARN You can benefit from over 35 hours of masterclasses in acting, singing, dance, audition skills, music production, technical theatre and film production, all taught by industry professionals, with modules tailored to your learning goals. A showreel allows them to see you in action through a series of short video clips.  While taking part in the Academy, you will have the chance to purchase optional headshots and a showreel to showcase your talents. Our team will help you capture the very best bits of your performances and a brilliant headshot that you can use to apply for future castings and opportunities. When booking the Academy below, you can add a showreel to your booking if you choose.

At Black & Gold Audio we offer beginner, intermediate, advanced and expert sessions for anyone aged 14 and over. The sessions are carried out either within our studios in Truro, Cornwall or remotely using ZOOM. They are designed around you the learner and your own specific wants and needs. Our tutor is an expert in the fields of acoustics, recording, traditional and electronic music composition, music production, sequencing, sound design, mixing and mastering, film, TV and game audio. Who is this course for?  Candidates who are interested in a more one to one based learning program remotely or within a professional industry standard environment, tuition is flexible regarding days, hours and regularity. Most importantly the tutor can design a program that it suited to you and your requirements, a meeting with the tutor can be arranged beforehand to discuss a learning plan for you. Flexible 1 to 1 tutoring is a great way to learn at your own pace with no pressures and with the support of an industry expert. What will I learn?  This is a very open ended question for these types of sessions, its about what you want to learn and our tutor will talk with you to figure out the a suitable program for your needs. We cater for beginners, intermediates, advanced and expert students. How will I learn? The aim of these courses is to build a basic to advanced knowledge and understanding in various specialist areas of the industry, each tailor made course will support your learning through progress tracking and access to some amazing learning resources provided by our tutor. Each session will focus and build upon the last so that you are eventually able to meet your desired end goal. What equipment do I use on the course? The Black & Gold Studio is equipped with a huge range of both industry standard recording equipment, hardware synthesizers, drum machines, fx processing and control surfaces, and that’s before we even get inside the computer!! You can be taught to use DAW’s such as Logic Pro X, Cubase, Pro Tools & Ableton Live as well as explore other 3rd party softwares such as NI Komplete, Izotope, Fabfilter, Waves and so many more.

The Music Technology, Production and Recording course can lead to a degree and career in many different professions. In one year, you could be well on your way to a new job or university study such as: • sound engineer • producer • media composer • sound recordist • music performer • recording artist • acoustic engineer • mixing or mastering engineer • sound designer The qualification gives you all the academic knowledge and creative skills you need for higher education study. It also provides the opportunity to develop study skills that help you to succeed at HE or in the industry sector. The course runs for 3 days per week (9.15am - 2.45pm) What will I study?  The course explores various areas of the industry and in particular those that are career based and can be studied at a higher level. Key subject areas are: • Acoustics in Music Production and Recording  • Music Composition and Theory • MIDI and Audio Sequencing • Sound and Music for Visual Media • Music Technology in Performance • Studio Production and Recording • Sampling and Synthesis You will learn to use industry-standard software and hardware equipment in the classroom, recording studio and live room environments that emulate real-world scenarios and working practices. 

An intensive two-year course with a School located in the heart of London, the MA Filmmaking trains to a professional level in a full range of filmmaking skills. Students leave with a portfolio of directing, cinematography, editing, producing, production design and sound credits. The school produces a huge output of films each year on this particular programme, many of which are screened at key festivals annually, previously winning many prizes, including at Locarno, Berlinale, Edinburgh, LaCinef (Cinéfondation). Learning is based on short film production and our students make a new film each term. Each term these film exercises become more technically sophisticated, more considered and more complex in their ambitions. The school specifies the skill base for each exercise, providing the equipment and training students to new levels in each of the various craft skills. Students make all aesthetic decisions while solving problems similar to those faced by professional units, on a steeply increasing slope of difficulty. The work is constantly assessed and critiqued.  This is the core of the London Film School method. Students learn by applying themselves to aesthetic and practical problems generated by the actual process of filmmaking.

DAW Production Stage 1 - DAW set up and making music EVERY TUESDAY FOR SIX WEEKS 12th September to 17th October 5pm - 9pm So you've worked out how to EQ things, when to use a compressor, how to manipulate the space with reverb and how much fun modulation effects can be. BUT ever feel like there's something they're just not telling you? This course gives you answers to the questions you didn't even know to ask!

MIXING TECHNIQUES STAGE 2 EVERY TUESDAY FOR SIX WEEKS 5pm - 9pm So you've worked out how to EQ things, when to use a compressor, how to manipulate the space with reverb and how much fun modulation effects can be. BUT ever feel like there's something they're just not telling you? This course gives you answers to the questions you didn't even know to ask!

MIXING TECHNIQUES STAGE 1 EVERY TUESDAY FOR SIX WEEKS 5pm - 9pm Imagine a gloriously painted landscape; as well as the main subjects, you see patches of sky and ground and maybe some things you don't notice on your first exposure. In mixing, we are trying to create a detailed 3D illusion, just like in this painting. But how can this be done?
