About this Training Course This intensive 5 full-day has been designed as a separately bookable course comprising 3 days of Well Integrity (Basic) and 2 days of Advanced Well Integrity. The intensive 3 full-day course will equip the participants with a thorough knowledge of well integrity management and risk assessment in producing assets. Based on the regulatory requirements and using real examples and exercises from around the world, this represents best practice integrity management within the oil and gas industry. When to take action with a well is a critical decision, both from a safety and economic perspective. A consistent approach to decision-making provides certainty within the organisation, focusing effort, and spending wisely. The decision-making steps will be set out to ensure all critical aspects are captured consistently. Risk analysis approaches used by different organisations and examples of risk management and risk-ranking methods will be discussed. The 2 full-day course will deepen the participants' knowledge of well integrity management, and skills for designing, operating, and maintaining well equipment. The ultimate goal is to optimise productivity at the lowest Unit Operating Cost (UOC) and to maintain mechanical integrity throughout well life cycle. Well Integrity management is looked at in three distinct stages. The first stage is during the well design which includes material selection, engineering design, cement design, coating and inhibitors and cathodic protection. The second stage is monitoring the well during the life of the well, locating possible leaks and / or loss of metal. The last stage is to manage and control any well integrity issues using specialised products, services and techniques. Training Objectives 1. In this intermediate setting class we are going to be looking into traditional techniques for channel setting stones into pre-cast silver rings. This attractive and popular setting style allows for you to learn more advanced setting techniques that will take your skills to a new level. We will discuss how to lay out the stones within the setting and discuss fine tolerances. You will then prepare your ring for setting before you begin drilling and opening the channel and finally set the stones in place. By the end of the day you will have the knowledge needed to apply these advanced techniques to your own designs. EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: Students should have some stone setting experience and be confident using normal jewellery tools and equipment. All tools and consumables are supplied including your stones and pre-cast ring. WHAT TO BRING: For safety reasons, during each class, you are required to wear appropriate footwear, we request that no open toed shoes are worn within Workshop 925. Long hair should also be tied back when working with the equipment. You may also wish to bring a notebook. We have handouts for many demonstrations, but there are always many tips and tricks given verbally by the tutor, which some might like to keep note of. Please bring any lunch, snacks and drinks which you may want to your session. We have tea and coffee for you to help yourselves to. For stone setting courses, it is also recommended to bring Optivisors if you have any or glasses which allow you to see smaller stones. During this day workshop you will be shown the techniques to create your very own bezel set ring. You will learn to set a cabochon stone (stones with a curved top and completely flat base). This is an excellent introduction to stone setting for those who have always wished to learn to set stones. For those with some experience, you can create a more detailed ring which explores textures and more advanced design techniques. Some stones might not be suitable due to size or shape, so please be aware if you do bring along your own stones, it might not be suitable for the setting technique but we will advise you on the day. Stones shouldn’t be smaller than 8-10mm for those new to setting as they can be hard to work with and is it harder to see the processes involved in setting. EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: None, all abilities are welcomed. We support you throughout the session and provide demonstrations to show you the techniques and steps needed to create your project. You are able to design and make a project of your choice, that may be a project with the aim to practice a certain skill, or maybe you are looking to make a special present, or create something you have always wanted to own, this class provides you with the tutor support, professional tools and a friendly, welcoming environment to make your own designs. This is for current term time or summer term time students only. You will have your very own solid jewellers workbench to work on to complete your projects and your own tool kit meaning you won’t have to wait for tools. Your bench is also equipped with its own pendant motor. In the workshop you will also find soldering equipment on each bench, a wide range of professional stone setting tools for various stone setting styles, a wide range of hand tools, texturing tools, a rolling mill, a hydraulic press, polishing equipment, dapping tools and punches, all of which will allow you the chance to create your designs within a professional setting.
