Needless to say, the last few weeks have been very challenging as we grapple with the health, safety and economic effects of the COVID-19 virus spread. Our top priority has been to ensure the safety of our employees and customers, and we are responding accordingly. While we cannot predict the future, we wanted to let you, our customers and colleagues, know how we are addressing the epidemic and what you can expect from us in the near future. To the best of our ability, we are going to continue doing what we do best, which is to provide you with evidence-based training in psychology, counselling and psychotherapy, and we are in a good position to offer you this from the comfort of your own home, without safety risks to you, your loved ones or colleagues. We are technologically equipped to deliver our training events to you in a variety of ways: • Starting this week our live events will be delivered to you via our Interactive Webcasts with trainers participating LIVE in the group chat, answering all your questions, commenting in discussions and giving advice. It was a tremendous effort by our whole team that made this solution possible – come and check it out – we are sure you will like this way of learning. NB! -Selected events will take place with tutors participating LIVE on video via ZOOM. See SDS Masterclasses for further details. • From today we are offering you a wider range of Course Recordings – you can see some examples on this page, or search our courses for Online Courses / Recordings to browse the full list. • Also from today we are extending the expiration date for all our recordings from 28 to 60 days without any extra cost to you. This way you have a whole 2 months to complete your chosen course and receive a BPS Approved CPD Certificate. • We are working towards adding more courses to our Online Training Range. These courses are based on live events, with video and slides, but they have a plethora of additional features – additional viewing and reading materials, online tests throughout and at the end – with a BPS Approved Certificate available for you to print out when you’ve completed the training. • We are planning to make the first chapter of EVERY online course we have available for you, for free, This way you know exactly what to expect from the course before committing to it financially. Steelworking still has a presence in Workington in the shape of the TSP heavy engineering works. The last part of the main steelworks disappeared in 2005 with the closure of the rail mil and long welded rail plant. Rails had been made in Workington and exported over the world for 128 years. Leyland established its national factory in 1971 at nearby Lillyhall. Over a life of less than a quarter of a century the factory despatched thousands of Nationals, Lynxes, Olympians, Titans and rail buses. As well as being bus (and rail) enthusiasts, we want to mark the unique contribution of the town to the country’s economic and cultural development. WTHT (Workington Transport Heritage Trust) Our vehicles include a number of buses, fire engines and other vehicles some of which are used in community events. Volunteers are engaged in restoring, maintaining and operating these historic vehicles. We have an extensive archive of local bus and rail material. This includes posters, signs, publicity materials, books, magazines, drawings, photographs, and petrol pumps. Our shop at Workington railway station sells hot & cold drinks, snacks, souvenirs, WTHT branded items and second hand books. It is by the main waiting room and, in normal times, it is open Mon to Saturday from 9am to 2pm, closed on bank holidays. All hours are subject to volunteer availability. Using our heritage buses, we usually run local free bus services on Boxing Day, plus park and ride services at a number of local shows. Our premises are home to around 16 of our own vehicles plus 11 privately owned guest vehicles. Not all of these are currently fit for the road. We work with groups which include Cumbria Omnibus Group, The 550 Group, Barrow Transport Group, Carlisle Bus Group, and a number of individual owners. We have two sites only one of which has a building – but we are working on curing this fault! We are grateful for the support of our members, and local businesses including Stagecoach North West and Northern Rail. We have volunteering opportunities in all aspects of restoring, maintaining and driving vehicles. Also in buildings and site maintenance, cataloguing & running our archive, producing educational materials, running trips and events, and fundraising.

What do we teach at The Pole Studio? BEGINNER 1 POLE FITNESS The aim of our Beginners classes is to build your confidence on and around the pole. BEGINNER 2 POLE FITNESS You will be introduced to the first steps of inverting (going upside down) and conditioning techniques. INTERMEDIATE POLE FITNESS At this level, you will be learning more challenging moves, spins, inverts, holds and combinations. ADVANCED POLE FITNESS Our Advanced classes incorporate harder tricks, inverts, spins, holds and combinations. ELITE POLE FITNESS Our Elite levels are designed for the hardcore poler with a very high level of fitness, strength and endurance. FLEXIBILITY AND CONDITIONING This class has been specifically designed to help our students improve their flexibility. ROUTINE CLASSES This class is for students of all levels who want to explore dancing and build a routine into their Pole Fitness classes. CHOREOGRAPY These classes are for those who want to work on a routine but need an outside eye or have an idea but don’t know how to start.
