Our Aims SATRO is a long established educational charity working across South Central England. We work in schools, partnering with employers to bring inspirational learning to students of all abilities and backgrounds. We have three key areas of focus: STEM Education: delivering in-school workshops, multi-school challenges and events, and research projects which bring STEM learning and careers to life for students from Primary to Post-16. Vocational Construction: delivering BTEC Level 1 construction qualifications, practical construction workshops and SEN independent skills training from school age to young adults. Employability & Skills: delivering careers, enterprise & skills workshops and mentoring partnerships which challenge perceptions and prepare students for their next steps in education, training or employment. All areas of our work directly involve employers in the development of real-world scenarios and careers understanding, including the involvement of staff as volunteers in delivery. We offer our services to all types of schools and students of all abilities - accepting every student for who they are. We provide a full service to schools from booking, to the provision of all materials & equipment required on the day, administration of volunteers and delivery is led by experienced tutors. We measure impact and feedback for all interventions with input from students, teachers and volunteers. As a charity we engage with charitable trusts, individual donors and corporate responsibility programmes. A key focus for us as a charity is to bring our work to those lacking access to opportunities in our three key programme areas.

I am a Devon based textile artist creating contemporary textile art inspired by the coast and countryside. With no formal training I took up free motion machine embroidery in 2012 and over time I have gravitated towards textile art, developing my own unique style by using organza and net to give a soft watercolour feel to my work. Working loosely from photographs, but often directly from my imagination, each piece of my work evolves as it is created. I prefer not to use a sketchbook, instead allowing my creativity to guide me as each piece develops. Colour and texture are big influences for me and where possible I prefers to source up cycled textiles for their variety and individuality. I love the idea that these materials can be given a new purpose, and can be appreciated in a totally different way for many more years to come. As well as my original artwork my range also includes digital and giclee fine art prints, greeting cards and textile art kits, all of which can be found in my Etsy shop https://www.etsy.com/shop/AlisonWhateley?ref=hdr_shop_menu I also welcome commissions of all sizes, and will work with you to get the result you are looking for. I get great pleasure from passing on my knowledge and skills to others, and run regular workshops close to my home, as well as providing talks and day workshops to groups such as the WI and embroiderers Guild.

From our workshop in Inverness, Scotland, we hand make custom and bespoke lamp shades, soft furnishings and interior decor items. We have customers across the world as well as around the corner. We use a range of different fabrics and materials to make our lampshades, cushions, and other interior soft furnishings including Harris Tweed, 100% wool fabrics, cotton, velvet and silk. We can customise our lampshades and soft furnishings in both size and colour to suit our clients’ requirements and to compliment their interior decor. Lucy Wagtail light shades are available in a variety of shapes such as the round drum, tall and round cylinder, oval, square, empire and French drum. All lampshades are available in sizes from 15cm up to huge, oversize lamp shades of up to 1m in diameter. We have now also introduced recyclable lampshade board as an eco-friendly option. Sustainability is important to us and we encourage the re-use and upcycling of lampshade frames, some of which are quite irreplaceable and lovely! We often refurbish lampshade frames that we have sourced ourselves and offer lamp shade refurbishment as a service.
