Our Story The idea for Canopy Children’s Nurseries was sown two decades ago when our founder, Sarah Beattie, was researching childcare for her own babies and decided to create the nursery that she dreamed of. Since then she has cultivated 3 nurseries in the Solihull area where the common theme has been a culture of excellence and a celebration of the magic moments in childhood. Sarah and her hand-picked team have used their extensive knowledge and experience to develop Canopy Children’s Nurseries so that more discerning parents across the country will have the chance to see their children blossom and reach their potential in our exceptional environments. Sharing the magicHillfoots Tales is a fledgling Community Interest Company (CIC), based in Clackmannanshire, which is connecting people and place through the magic of storytelling. “We had a wonderful evening and every family I spoke to commented on how much they had enjoyed the event. The stories kept everyone enthralled throughout. The use of puppets and soft toys captured the attention of our younger listeners and the local tale was enjoyed by all (with many commenting that they had not heard it before). The children took part in a variety of activities: painting scenes on stones, reciting poetry, listening to the stories being told and exploring the nature that is referred to in the tales. The children were fascinated to learn about their local folklore and asked lots of questions. It was a valuable experience for them to hear stories spoken and led them to explore storytelling techniques themselves.”

The Science of Acting The Science of Acting was founded by Sam Kogan, influenced by Maria Knebel; his teacher, who herself was a student of Stanislavski. The curriculum of the Science of Acting is founded on 4 principles: Freedom from Gods or Idols - Only once you learn to think for yourself will you be able to be free on stage. Right and Wrong - Statements such as ‘there is no right or wrong in acting’, or ‘you either have it or you don’t’ are common in Drama Education. But if this were true, there would be no point to a drama school, or to dramatic training of any kind. The Science of Acting therefore is based on a technique the knowledge of which has proven to give actors the training to be able to create inspiring acting. Quality of Acting - We believe that the best acting occurs when actors are able to use the right type of imagination (which we all have); that being active as opposed to passive imagination, which few actors are aware of or know how to use. Terminology or The Meaning of Words - For a group of actors to create the context of stories and therefore entertain, a common understanding through language in all its forms is necessary. This enables each individual actor to be free in their uniqueness, whilst creating a totality for the audience.
