Qualification Information This qualification and learning outcomes are based on the recommendations of: The Resuscitation Council (UK) Skills for Health Assessment Principles for First Aid Qualifications Course Content Following this course students will: Be able to manage an unresponsive casualty who is breathing normally. Be able to manage an unresponsive casualty who is not breathing normally. Know how to safely use an automated external defibrillator. Be able to safely use an automated external defibrillator. Who should attend? This qualification is for people who have a specific interest or responsibility at work, or in voluntary and community activities, in being able to provide BLS when dealing with an emergency situation which may involve using an AED. Pre-requisites Students must be at least 16 years old on the first day of training. Assessment and Certifications Assessment for this course is continuous. Successful students will receive an Immerse Training Certificate, which is valid for one year. This certificate will be issued by Qualsafe, the awarding body for Immerse Training. Additional Information Completion of the Level 2 Award in Basic Life Support and Safe Use of an Automated External Defibrillator includes 1 credit at Level 2 of the Qualification Credit Framework (QCF). The Level 2 Award in Basic Life Support and Safe Use of an automated External Defibrillator is also recommended as an annual refresher for student who have successfully completed the QA Level 3 Award in First Aid at Work (QCF). With the number of sufferers increasing each year, it is extremely important to know what to do when faced with this acute emergency condition.  The QA Level 2 Award in Basic Life Support and Management of Anaphylaxis (RQF) qualification has been designed for those who have a specific responsibility at work, at home or in voluntary and community activities, to provide basic life support and manage anaphylaxis when dealing with an emergency. Successful candidates will be able to recognise the signs and symptoms of anaphylaxis, and will be equipped with the vital skills needed to administer safe, prompt and effective treatment.

This course can be adapted to both adults and paediatrics.

The Level 2 Award in Basic Life Support for Adults and Children (RQF) qualification has been designed for anyone who wishes to learn basic life support skills for adults, children and infants. It is also ideal for those who are qualified in providing first aid and are looking to refresh or develop their existing first aid knowledge.

Basic Life Support Workshop: What will you learn? You have two options: 2-hour workshop — The all-important basics 3-hour workshop — Includes how to use a defibrillator, how to treat someone who’s choking and advice about calling 999 With both options there will be practical demonstrations, role playing and some activities to keep things engaging and interesting. During the course, you’ll be trying out your newly-learned techniques with a whole range of equipment, including mannequins. And… this course includes the CPD-accredited Bra Off, Defib On.
