We think of arts and crafts as smaller, valuable actions that contribute to the community’s well being and that can tackle bigger social issues; we are big fans of “slow-making and slow-thinking”, focusing on the importance of making by hand, of taking your own time with your thoughts and ideas, and going against fast, capitalist structures of production and art making. We provide a variety of workshops utilising a range of different media, such as knitting and crocheting, collage, publication making, creative writing. Our workshops are suitable for beginners hesitant to approach arts and crafts and for more experienced makers that are tired of the elitism and exclusivity that characterise contemporary arts. Arts and crafts are for everyone, and we would love for our participants to come out from one of our workshops with more confidence in their artistic and social skills.

I studied Art & Design at Falmouth Art School and then took a degree in Graphic Design & Illustration at Southampton Solent University. I now work as a product developer for a large, international jewellery manufacturer. Most of the work is commercial and not particularly creative. So as a creative outlet I enjoy many craft hobbies such as crochet, knitting and sewing and occasional a bit of illustration. It all started a long time ago… I moved to Germany when I was two and was put into the local kindergarten. I couldn’t speak a word of German, however the teacher, Frau Pfenning began my integration by teaching me to knit – purely by demonstration. When I came back to the UK aged nine, my mother taught me basic crochet and I became adept at making dolls’ clothes using only single crochet – discovering I could shape garments using increases and decreases. She also influenced my knitting style – I am a “pit knitter”, as was her grandmother. As an adult, I didn’t rediscover crochet and knitting until my early thirties – 10 years on and my hobbies have become my passion. Creative Quilting was founded back in 1989. Starting with about 5 bolts of brown fabrics, things have somewhat changed a bit... We now stock about 2,000 bolts of fabrics. We have a wide selection of books, notions and all sorts of tempting goodies to make quilts and other projects. We love making it easier for customers to select fabrics and, as a result, we regularly put together our own selections of precut packs (cut straight not pinked) which are available in the shop, on the website and through our dedicated fabric clubs – check out the Fabric Clubs page on the left. We also stock knitting and crochet yarn and needles, buttons, wool felt and ribbons. All members of staff do know which end of a needle to thread and, even if we are not all professional quilters, we always do our best to help you achieve the quilt of your dreams.

I first took up silk painting at the 2001 Knitting and Stitching Show at Alexandra Palace, when the Fabric Colour Workshop were doing taster sessions. I went with curiosity, and came home with a large frame, some silk, a brush and a box of little bottles of paint! Since then, I have completed my City and Guilds qualification in creative textiles (silk painting), and the "Access to Art & Design" Diploma at the University for Creative Arts in Farnham. I enjoy teaching silk painting and helping each student to achieve their potential. I have written tutorials on aspects of silk painting for Crafts Beautiful Magazine and Creative Crafting Magazine, and contributed three projects to "Craft", which was published by Dorling Kindersley. I appeared (briefly!) on Paul Martin's Handmade Revolution (BBC2), and was interviewed by the Victoria & Albert Museum as part of a project on traditional crafts. I have run silk painting workshops for many local organisations including Watts Gallery, The Lightbox, The West End Centre in Aldershot, Amberley Museum, Woking College, NADFAS, The Embroiderers' Guild, the Guild of Weavers Spinners & Dyers, and the WI. I have also run introductory evening workshops for a number of local businesses, and many private parties. I have also been working in fused glass and ceramics since 2009, and have my own home workshop. I have been on a number of courses at Glasszoo, UCA Farnham, Warm Glass and The Glass Hub, and have also attended workshops at the International Festival of Glass. I have been featured in the Glass Beadmakers UK Magazine and Journal. I am a member of the Guild of Silk Painters. I set up their Surrey Branch in 2005. I have also spent time on the Guild of Silk Painters Executive Committee as their Vice Chairman and, more recently, as their Publicity Officer. My silk painting courses are also listed on craftcourses.com. I produce a range of hand made accessories and homewares from hand painted silk and fused glass, suitable for all occasions. Hello!! My name is Muge and I am the founder of My Breathing Path! I was born in Istanbul, Turkey and I lived there until 2018. I was working in the Turkish finance industry for more than 10 years and during that time I was suffering from an advanced hernia in my neck. Working in a high stress environment and dealing with lots of problems at the same time, made me a super-achiever. I first came across breathwork in a workshop in 2010. It was extremely powerful but also it was completely different to the other techniques that I had tried before. As I continued to go to the sessions, it helped me to understand my behaviour as a perfectionist and its subsequent consequences for my life, the hernia and my unbalanced relationship with my family, friends and colleagues. After experiencing healing and transformation myself, I decided to become a facilitator. Since 2014, I have been working in the field of Transformational Breath as a Certified Transformational Breath Facilitator in private sessions, workshops and seminars while I continued to work in my finance career. I have experience in working with a wide variety of people – each possessing their own set of needs and goals. My further qualifications, Basic DNA Theta Healing Practitioner and Reiki II Certification are used in conjunction with Transformational Breath sessions to help people reach their potential and achieve their goals. Life is a combination of different journeys and within my new journey in the UK, I look forward to sharing my experiences through transformational breathing sessions with others, who want to discover more about themselves with transformation in their life, increase their self-awareness and live a healthier lifestyle.

Come together, connect, learn more about knitting and the social purpose of our project. Both beginners and experienced knitters welcomed! If you can't make the event anymore, please be sure to cancel your ticket in advance through Eventbrite to give others a chance to attend. The Knit Club is a workshop by Craft Forward structured like a relaxed and welcoming knitting and crochet group, open to beginners and experienced makers to come together, connect, and assemble our blankets for the “Blankets for London” project. “Blankets for London” is Craft Forward’s seasonal project where we assemble blankets to donate to homeless individuals in London through our partner charities. The Knit Club is open to anyone interested in approaching crafting and textile art for the first time and to any creative who would like an opportunity to make together and connect with other makers. What to bring: all materials are provided! I want to participate in "Blankets for London": our mailbox is now CLOSED for Blankets for London 2023. Thank you so much for having participating! We will start collecting new squares and blankets in 2024. Pictures will be taken during this session: please let us know if you'd rather not be photographed, we want to make sure everyone is comfortable.
