The Merseyside Judo Academy was opened on February 23rd 2022 with the help of the WIJJF and Two Brothers Muay Thai Gym. The Merseyside Judo Academy's aims are to practice real, traditional and well rounded Judo as it should be practiced as well as supporting the WIJJF's mission to develop high quality grapplers in Wirral. This is further bolstered with 6am class times during the week to enable Students to get to the Dojo and train before the day's commitments begin. Our Programs infuse sports and traditional Judo, Submission Wrestling, Tai So(Body Conditioning) as well as armed and unarmed Goshin Jutsu elements. The British Judo Association (BJA) is the National Governing Body for the Olympic Sport of Judo in Great Britain. The Association represents Great Britain internationally and is a member of The International Judo Federation, The European Judo Union, The Judo Confederation of the European Union, The British Olympic Association, Sport and Recreation Alliance, Commonwealth Judo Association, and the Commonwealth Games Federation.
Steve Hutton has been coaching Judo for over 20 years and running Southern Counties Schools Judo since 1999. He is a Level 3 British Judo Association coach and a British Judo Council coach. Here at Southern Counties Schools Judo, we have children who have started with us aged 5 and go right through to black belt and attain their Dan grades. We’ve had success at a national level in the British Schools Championships with a number of medal winners and have also coached children who have gone on to represent Great Britain.
BIO Danny Alessandro (Judo Dan) started judo at the young age of 8. His competitive career lasted throughout his entire childhood and spilled right through his teens and into young adulthood.

Randori Dojo is Midlothian’s Community location for Pre School (Dojo Activities), Junior and Adult Judo (Randori Judo) Activities, Events & Projects. Prior to the Coronavirus Randori had 5 Community venues which were either not available or adequate due to the pandemic. In 2020 the Team at Randori made the decision to find a home and worked tirelessly to transform a vacant industrial unit into one of the best bespoke Dojo facilities in the UK. The air conditioned dojo boasts 187 square meters of mats laid on a custom sprung floor, traversing climbing wall, cafe, gym and state of the art multi media system.
