The BSMFT has been set up to promote Myofunctional Therapy (MFT) with an interdisciplinary approach, integrating knowledge and methods from different disciplines and working collaboratively with a common purpose to set goals, make decisions and share resources and responsibilities. Our board is made up of a team of clinicians from different disciplines working with MFT, keen to promote collaborative clinical work and further research in MFT. Working with patients, we support each other to undertake assessments, diagnosis, intervention, goal-setting and the creation of care plans, involving patients, their families and carers in any discussions about their condition, prognosis and treatment plan. The BSMFT is designed to support clinicians across the UK and internationally to build interdisciplinary teams. Our clinical board is happy to guide members in the right direction on their MFT journey, sharing resources, protocols and strategies and learning together from existing and past clinical cases.

She also holds two postgraduate certificates from Leeds University and York University and was formerly a senior teacher and assessor with Dyslexia Action in Leeds and Sheffield. Power The Fight is an award-winning charity which aims to be the conduit between communities and policy makers (see our Community Empowerment Cycle diagram above). We create co-produced/co-designed long-term strategies for sustainable structural change. Most of our work is with young people, families, schools, local authorities, faith groups and community organisations who want to be equipped to engage with youth violence issues in their context. We do this in a number of ways: 1. Training and Events At Power The Fight we have access to leading thinkers and practitioners from a range of disciplines working in the field of youth violence. Since the beginning of 2019 we have trained and equipped over 8000 organisations and individuals to make a difference to young people’s lives, including the NHS, schools, faith groups, charities, local authorities and more. Resources At Power The Fight we have developed resources to help organisations, faith and community groups to better understand issues relating to youth violence. These include specialist PowerTalks, links to helpful websites and toolkits. For more information go to PowerTalks or our resources page. 3. Building Connections At Power The Fight we bring community groups together with local authorities, services and other partners to promote mutuality, improve cohesion and effect change. We take a person-centred approach to assessing and supporting every young person referred to us. From the moment the referral comes in, we begin tailoring a package of individualised interventions to ensure each young person gets the right kind of support, in the way that will make the most difference for them. Working towards meeting the objectives set and agreed upon by the young person’s support team and social worker, each young person is referred to specific, relevant programmes.
