I’m an artist based in Birmingham with a great love for all things creative. From a young age, creating has been therapeutic for me, giving an outlet and response to the changing world around me. In my late teens I took a traditional route studying Fine Art, going on to use my skills to support communities and people of all ages. This included working with play schemes and youth groups, bringing as many creative experiences as I could – despite incredibly low budgets! Over the years I developed a passion for mosaic and began to specialise in creating large scale mosaic installations, initially within educational and community environments. What I love about mosaic is its accessibility for all, and the collaboration and teamwork it brings. As a process I enjoy watching people’s confidence grow, the relationships built along the way and the pride shared in the finished product of a permanent installation on a wall or in the ground that the whole community can enjoy & share. I love that my work becomes part of a shared history for those that have worked on it, been part of the commissioning process and have inspired it. I consider myself a visual storyteller and enjoy helping others to share their stories in a unique and engaging way. I love exploring new places, meeting new people and creating bespoke and site-specific artworks. I relish the challenge of meeting a client’s brief, whatever that may be and have vast experience working with a wide range of clients over the years, working creatively in many differing environments. Throughout my career I have explored other media and methods within my commissions, moving from a purely handmade traditional approach, to incorporating digital media and new technologies. This fresh approach has expanded my vision of what can be achieved in my public artworks allowing me to widen my practice and include other mediums. It has also equipped me with new skills that I enjoy sharing through public participation and my ability to offer a wider scope of media in my response to the needs of commissioners. I’m excited to further this innovative approach and as a member of the Crafts Council and STEAMhouse Birmingham, I look forward to continuing to explore my digital and technological skills in the future. Each commission excites me and is a new adventure and I pride myself in delivering high quality permanent artworks, delivered on time and within budget. Stanley Picker Gallery at Kingston University is one of the leading university galleries and commissioning venues in the UK, working with artists, designers, students, academics and members of the local community to encourage creativity, learning, research and innovation. Established in 1997 with the ongoing support of the Stanley Picker Trust, the Gallery forms part of Arts Council England’s National Portfolio and is a principal cultural interface between Kingston University and its civic communities in South-West London and beyond. Kids in Kathmandu Nepal (KIKN) charity has been set up to provide help and support to orphans and disadvantaged children and young people, mainly living in and around the Kalimati area in Kathmandu. The Objects of the Charity are: To relieve the poverty of orphaned and disadvantaged children and young people in Kathmandu Nepal by the provision of clothing, equipment and other goods for daily living, and To advance in life and relieve the needs of orphaned and disadvantaged children and young people in Kathmandu Nepal by providing support, facilities and activities which assist in advancing their education and developing their skills, capacities and capabilities to enable them to participate in society as mature and responsible adults. The Charity has two main strands of work: The first is the sponsorship of individual children from both the Save Lives Foundation Orphanage and from local schools. In December 2018, our sponsors are supporting 31 children and young adults. The second is to enhance educational opportunities by improving infrastructure and facilities at two local schools, and a home for disabled children. The Charity’s income comes from the sponsors of individual children, from fund raising events, from grants for specific projects, and one-off and regular donations from its supporters. Sponsorship pays for the school fees, all the educational materials and school uniforms required for the sponsored children’s schooling. In addition, those sponsored children who are living at home are each given an emergency lamp and a specially made table to enable them to continue studying during the regular power cuts in the long winter evenings. We purchased a small generator for the orphanage, where eight of the sponsored children live. We now have sponsored children entering higher education, and the Charity is committed to fund the additional fees and maintenance, whilst studying for degrees or other vocational courses. To date KIKN has two graduates, four undergraduates and fifteen doing A-level equivalent. Schools: We fund infrastructure and equipment projects and breakfast clubs at The Shree Neel Barahi School, Lubhoo School, Ishwor School, Shree Buddha School, Saraswati School and the Adarsha School. We also fund 0.5 salary of a computer teacher and a karate teacher at Shree Neel Barahi School, following the purchase of 35 computers and the installation of solar panels (due to daily power cuts). We were greatly assisted by grants from Futures for Kids, a UK charity. Extra-curricular Activities: All sponsored children are offered the opportunity to attend English tuition classes. At the Shree Neel Barahi School, we fund karate and Nepalese dancing classes, open to all pupils at the school. Chief Officer/Founder, Lai See Chew, visits Kathmandu each year to ensure that the Charity’s funds have been distributed and utilised according to the Charity’s Objects, as approved by the Trustees. The Islamic Foundation (IF) is located in Villa Park, Illinois. Islamic Foundation was formed in 1974, as a non-profit organization under the laws of the State of Illinois, to serve the Muslim communities in the western suburbs of Chicago. We started our mission in 1975 with a weekend Islamic school in a rented facility with an initial enrollment of 36 students. In 1981, Islamic Foundation got the permit to establish a permanent building facility in Villa Park, Illinois and two years later, Islamic Foundation purchased a former public school building and an adjacent house to setup the facility that is now our Islamic Foundation campus. Our goal at IF is to fulfill the spiritual, educational, and social needs of the entire family for the Muslim community in the greater Chicagoland area. The management of the Islamic Foundation is vested in a Board of Trustees. The Islamic Foundation operates multiple institutions and programs on the premises including a Mosque, Islamic Foundation School (full-time school from preschool to grade 12), and Weekend Schools (Saturday and Sunday). The Islamic Foundation Masjid, arguably the largest mosque in North America, was completed in 1998 after a 3-year construction period. The masjid area now also includes a book store, library / reading room, community center, banquet / lecture hall, state-of-the-art kitchen, conference rooms, and IF staff offices. The Islamic Foundation School (IFS), is a full-time school (preschool to grade 12) accredited by North Central Association (NCA) and recognized by the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE). IFS has a current enrollment of around 650 full-time students from 400+ families across the greater Chicagoland area, making its one of the largest Islamic schools in North America. Since its inception in 1986, IFS has embarked on a mission to provide excellent education in an atmosphere of faith, and to prepare students to be life-long learners and contributing members of society. Also added a playground and completed an upgrade of all heating units in the school building. 1998: Completed construction of the Masjid along with the additional space that today includes a book store, library and reading room, banquet/lecture hall, kitchen, and offices for the Foundation staff. 1999: Further extended the existing parking facility. 2003: Added the parking lot on the west side of the Masjid. 2007: Established a second cemetery, Al-Fatiha Gardens, for 336 grave sites in Chapel Hill Gardens at 17 West 201 Roosevelt Road, Oak Brook Terrace, Illinois. 2007: Started construction of a new three-story building including a state-of-the-art regulation-size gymnasium (paused in 2009 after completing all exterior work due to financial considerations). 2012: Completed and furnished first floor of the new school building – moved high school classes from trailers to the new building. 2014: Completed and furnished second floor of the new school building – moved all the middle school classes from trailers to the new building. 2016: Completed the lower level of the new school building – moved rest of the middle school classes, and labs. 2017: Completed the construction of community center, administration offices, and conference rooms. 2018: Renovated the Old School Building by replacing the entire roof and ceiling.

Their repetitive impact action can lead to drilling failures, reduce the fastener pull-out performance, and damage the coating or strip the moulding on the fastener head.
