Having been actively involved in a variety of sports from an early age, my passion for health and fitness soon led to a desire for a greater understanding of the body and how it adapts. After studying Physical Education at A-Levels, before graduating with a BSc. (Hons.) degree in Sport Science in 2000, I then travelled to Australia for a year with the objective of challenging myself further by throwing myself out of planes and scuba-diving to earn my respective licences, white water rafting, surfing and generally anything else that got the adrenaline pumping. When I returned in 2001 I moved over to Bristol, which I am proud to call “home’ and I have now worked in the fitness industry for over ten years. My training specialties lie in core control, strength training and endurance training, all of which are crucial components in my own sports of distance running (10km, cross country, half and full marathon), boxing, football and, when I get time – surfing! Why do I need to participate? The CIWM (WAMITAB) Operator Competence Scheme Version 9 [Final] was approved by Defra and the Welsh Assembly Government for England and Wales on December 22nd 2008. Participation in the scheme by gaining primary competence provides evidence of the technical knowledge needed on a waste site. This evidence can be required by employers based in the waste industry and the environmental regulators. How do I join the scheme? CIWM (WAMITAB) will help operators to understand the qualifications, units and/or training programme(s) which may be required to meet the technically competent person requirements for their waste sites – this process starts by selecting the relevant risk tier table from the list below.

In Musical Theatre and Comedy & Drama our students will be working on skills whilst we begin rehearsals for our upcoming musical of The Little Mermaid, performed at the 1542 Performing Arts Centre! In Film & Television, we are exploring pre-production, storytelling and filmmaking practice whilst taking part in a variety of PQA challenges! Our Poppets will be exploring a range of themed sessions, they will even be making their own Poppets movie! All of our students will be developing their confidence and Performing Arts skills across the range of brilliant sessions we offer! HorseWorld is a charity dedicated to saving the lives of abandoned, neglected and mistreated horses, ponies and donkeys. The organisation cares for more than 100 horses, ponies and donkeys at its Bristol site and provides after-care and support for around 200 more, who have been re-homed throughout the South-West. The charity also runs the innovative Discovery educational programme. HorseWorld's vital 365-days-a-year animal welfare work is funded by voluntary donations. You can help transform the lives of horses, ponies and donkeys. HorseWorld is not open to the public on a day-to-day basis but it holds Open Days throughout the year. HorseWorld's Registered Charity number is 1121920 Background The charity began life in 1952 as "The Friends of Bristol Horses Society" in a campaign to save the lives of working horses who were rapidly being replaced by motorised vehicles in industry. Under the banner of “Retirement Not Slaughter” - for many were destined for the abattoir - the charity offered a safe haven in Bristol for the big-hearted horses, ponies and donkeys that had worked all their lives on the railways, in the dockyards, the coal mines, the roads and for the armed forces. Decades later working horses are largely a memory of the past. But there is still a very real demand for this work - to rescue, rehabilitate and re-home up to 100 abandoned, neglected and mistreated horses every year.
