A Health & Safety Executive Approved course that complies with First Aid Regulations 1981 and includes AED familiarisation. This Course is ideal for smaller work places for persons in a lower risk work environment. Who Should Attend? Any member of an organisation who would find themselves in charge, or who has been appointed to take charge of first aid during a first aid emergency in the absence of a qualified First Aider. Course Content • Health & Safety • AED Familiarisation • First Aid Kit • Resuscitation/CPR - Adult, Child, Baby • Recovery Position • Choking - Adult, Child, Baby • Burns & Scalds • Poisoning including Anaphylaxis • Epilepsy • Shock • Bleeding & Nose Bleeds • Asthma • Head Injuries • Breaks, Sprains & Strains • Specific Conditions (Heart Attack) Assessment / Certification Independent qualified assessors carry out the assessments. Each delegate that passes will receive a Certificate valid for Three years. Please note that training can take place upto 3 months in advance of the Certificate expiry date. The new Certificate will be dated from the expiry date of the old Certificate.
About the event We are pleased to be hosting a Doing History at University event for students and teachers in partnership with the University of Sheffield. The aim of the event is to introduce students to history at university, and how to make yourself stand out in the application process. Sheffield University has one of the largest, most active and successful centres for teaching and historical research in the UK. It was ranked among the UK’s top three history departments for the impact and quality of its research, and its teaching is consistently rated as excellent. This one-day event will equip students with the tools to ensure that you have the best chance of studying history at the university of your choice. For a day packed full of helpful advice, workshops, mock interviews and case studies, plus sessions from the University of Sheffield history department and a chance to meet current students, this event is a must for students looking to study history at university and post-16 teachers looking to support their students. Programme The programme will include: Advice about admissions from the University of Sheffield Making the leap from sixth-form to university history What makes a great undergraduate historian How to make your UCAS application stand out Support for those applying to universities with interviews A sample lecture from Professor Julie Gottlieb A sample seminar with Dr Miriam Dobson A chance to meet current students Booking information Places are limited with a maximum of 5 per school. Teachers may book places on behalf of their students. A small fee is charged to cover costs of attendance and refreshments. Accreditation These sessions will not be accredited. We are happy to create in-house certificates for the youngsters. We can also give the children a Mini Medics book and certificate if you like or prefer - this will incur an additional charge per child.
