RYA Competent Crew or Day Skipper - £770 A five day practical course which can accommodate both Day Skipper and Competent Crew candidates, depending on ability and course requirements. We familiarise you with the yacht and spend the week port hopping whilst you gain experience and work towards your qualification. Competent Crew - An ideal way to develop your skills and to start to become an active crew member capable of contributing to the running of a boat. Course content includes learning how to steer the boat, what the sails do, knot-tying, basic seamanship principles and safety procedures. Day Skipper - Putting Day Skipper level theory into practice and taking command of both the boat and crew, you will also learn learn basic engine checks. This includes building on previous experience and developing new skills for close quarter manouevring, handling under power and sail, day navigation, with some night hours.   RYA Coastal Skipper / Yachtmaster™ Preparation - £770 A five day practical course for Coastal Skipper or preperation Yachtmaster™ candidates, this course will build and refine your skills and knowledge, including your planning and skippering for passages with pilotage at day and night, boat handling and safety and emergency procedures. If you are looking to gain the Yachtmaster™ Offshore or Coastal Certificate, please let us know and we will arrange an examiner for you. We cannot over emphasise the need for personal preparation for this exam; your theory knowledge should be instinctive and you should exercise safe practices and judgment without being too overcautious. Primarily you will be examined on your ability to be a good skipper. Our emphasis during this course is consolidate all that you have already learned and fine tune any areas that need improvement. You will be expected to be fully skilled in the following areas: communication with crew members, confident and competent boat handling, high standard chart work and navigation, safety briefings and procedures, radio communication, meteorology skills. Our current school boat is the modern 2017 Dufour 382, a fantastic boat to learn and develop your knowledge on; with her spacious deck layout,dual helm and on-deck plotter, she is easy to handle in close and open quarters. You will be required to provide evidence of more technical projects. The award requires you to support a team through setting constantly high standards. You will work in one of the following areas: Trowel Occupations (Bricklayer) Painting and Decorating Wall and Floor Tiling Site Carpentry Plastering Roofing Induction - As soon as you register you will be given a dedicated assessor. They will arrange an induction and together with your assessor, you will get to decide on the pathway which best proves your competency. The induction is used to plan out how you will gather the relevant evidence to complete the course. During the course - The assessor will work with you to build a portfolio of evidence that allows you to showcase your knowledge, skills and experience. The assessor will also regularly review and provide you with feedback. This will allow you to keep on track to progress quickly. About this Virtual Instructor Led Training (VILT)  This 2-half-day Virtual Instructor Led Training (VILT) course will discuss the chemical aspects of the water-steam cycle in a power plant. The VILT course will examine the different types of chemicals used in boilers, potential issues in a water-steam cycle as well as aspects of monitoring and specifications regarding target values and alarm levels. Participants will also be equipped on what to do or key action steps to take in the event of chemistry-related incidents. This course is delivered in partnership with ENGIE Laborelec. Training Objectives The VILT course will cover the following: Detailed aspects of chemistry in a water steam cycle, including types of chemicals used in boilers depending on the treatment and type of boiler Potential issues in a water-steam cycle such as corrosion and deposition Monitoring & analytical programmes and knowledge of specifications for the water steam cycle (normal values targets - alarm levels) Chemistry aspects during transition periods: start-up, shutdown and preservation Actions to be taken in the event of an alarm Examples of incidents or deviations compared to normal chemistry Target Audience The VILT course is intended for: Power plant chemists Plant operation or maintenance engineers Consultants and technical project managers Boiler engineers Course Level Basic or Foundation Training Methods The VILT course will be delivered online in 2 half-day sessions comprising 4 hours per day, with 2 x 10 minutes break per day, including time for lectures, discussion, quizzes and short classroom exercises. His role also includes operational assistance in the field of chemical cleaning and troubleshooting. More recently, he expanded his field of competence towards electrical storage. In this regard, he specializes in electrochemistry and is in charge of different tests on batteries and their components within the ENGIE Batteries Lab.
