In this fun workshop you’ll be making a beautiful felted landscape picture in your choice of colours and designs.

Debbie will be demonstrating some simple felting and embellishing techniques and showing you how to create your landscape. You can bring a photograph or picture of your favourite landscape, create a scene from your imagination or use one of Debbie’s range of pre-drawn templates. Choose your gorgeous wool fibres and threads to make your own design. Embellish with stitch, beads and threads if you wish and take home your lovely felted landscape picture at the end of the day.

Course level:
This event is suitable for complete beginners as well as those who want to brush up their skills or just enjoy a couple of hours making a lovely felted landscape!

What you will learn:
How to set up your space, what equipment and materials you will use and how to prepare your fibre for felting
The essential principles of wet-felting – what types of felting methods there are, what fibres you can felt and how the fibres are used.
How to create a 2D piece of felt, working with colours, layering and pattern.
Adding embellishments.
Finishing your landscape with stitching and other techniques

You will need:
Nothing! Debbie will provide a wide range of coloured fibres, threads and embellishments. All the equipment and materials are also included so just bring yourself!

About the classes
Debbie loves to teach and has been a felter for over 20 years so you'll be able to pick her brains for tips, tricks and hacks! Debbie's sessions are fun and enjoyable. The pace is relaxed and there is plenty of time to ask questions and chat.

About Debbie
Debbie has been a textile artist for over 30 years. Debbie teaches wet and needle-felting, nuno felting and mixed media textiles. Debbie is the author of 5 internationally published books, Hand-Dyed Yarn Craft Projects, Complete Knitting Skills, 250 Knitting Stitches, Knitting.Learn it.Love it and How to Knit.

When she's not felting, dyeing, designing, knitting or crocheting, you'll find her in the garden, tending her dyeplants, enjoying a nice craft beer or hugging a big mug of builders' tea. And if you're out and about, she can often be found in the mosh pit at a gig or enjoying some folk music!

Gorgeous textures and colours and beautifully soft felt make for a relaxing and creative craft.The tutorials are the equivalent of a full day workshop (including making time) and will enable you to feel confident enough in the process to keep going afterwards. The workshop explores the exciting textural properties of felt, using basic knitting techniques and experimental materials.

<li>Combining felting yarn with none felting yarn to produce unusual textures</li>
</ul>

There will be demonstrations of the knitting techniques, plus a discussion on the felting properties of different sheep breeds, and various wet felting methods.&nbsp; &nbsp;The workshop will focus on using pre-made yarns, and therefore will not be covering spinning with raw fibres.
All levels of ability are welcome.&nbsp; &nbsp;The class includes a worksheet, samples and a PowerPoint presentation, to inspire further ideas for after the session.

<li>Felting yarn, 100% wool is usually the best &ndash; check the label to see if it says suitable for felting. However avoid Superwash wool which is designed not to felt.</li>
<li>Yarn, conventional yarn, plus fine string, twine, thin ribbon or lace, embroidery threads</li>
<li>Scissors, for cutting yarns</li>
<li>Hand Needles, preferably large-eyed tapestry needles (optional)</li>
<li>Thread, for hand sewing, could be wool or any other fibre (optional)</li>
<li>Internet access, with a microphone and webcam. Please only book is you are able to attend in real time.</li>
