This Silver Ring Workshop is designed for absolute beginners. It will be a great introduction to working with silver and will see you make your very own silver ring, using skills acquired during your day.
Your silver ring will be a choice of two silver bands, which you will have the opportunity to personalise by adding texture, if you wish. You will also be shown how to cut and attach a silver disc, which you may decide to keep flat or choose to dome (pictured). If you decide not to attach your disc, you are welcome to make it into a pendant or charm instead.
Your experienced tutor will guide you through the making process. During the workshop you will learn various techniques including how to; correctly measure your ring size, cut and shape your silver, add texture using stamps and hammering, solder, and more – all in a friendly and relaxed atmosphere.
This workshop will run from 10.00am until 4.00pm, with a pause for a ploughman-style lunch. Your lunch and all the materials to make your beautiful silver ring will be provided, as will a workshop apron for you to wear during your day.

Bookbinding is both a traditional and very beautiful craft, using simple techniques to create stunning ‘works of art’.
During the workshop, your experienced tutor will guide you through the making process to create your journal, the style of which is known as exposed spine binding. There will even be a choice of fabrics for you to choose from for the front and back covers of your journal, which will measure approximately 15.5cm x 11cm x 2.5cm.
This workshop is suitable for complete beginners. By the end of the workshop, as well as heading home with your journal, you will have the skills and know-how to make many more journals for friends and family.

What is the AM2 assessment? The AM2 assessment is an industry recognised trade test designed to evidence that candidates have gained all relevant and safety-critical competencies during their training process. It provides a single standard that has been agreed upon by employers within the electrical industry, giving a reliable and trusted guarantee of safe, high-quality skills for the electrotechnical industry. Who is this for? This is aimed at apprentices who are coming to the end of their training for the JIB apprentice training scheme and the Installation of modern apprenticeships. This course is also for experienced electricians, specifically those who are looking at taking the experienced worker route (AM2E.) There are a range of assessments for candidates based on their level: AM2 – This is for candidates undertaking the JIB mature candidate assessments and those following the level three NVQ who isn’t an apprentice. AM2S – This is for electrotechnical apprentices who are training against the apprenticeship standard AM2E – This is for experienced workers who are completing the experienced worker assessment. Please note: this can only be taken once you have gained the experienced worker qualification, proof must be provided before booking the AM2 assessment. What does this assessment consist of? Overall, the AM2 is an in-depth assessment carrying out tasks to show what you have learnt on your training. It is a practical assessment with five sections (six for AM2E and AM2S) and a short online component. Candidates will be expected to install, connect, terminate, inspect, test, commission and diagnose faults, following installation specifications provided and any relevant statutory and non-statutory regulations on: A three-phase distribution board and subcircuit A central heating/sustainable energy system Lighting and power circuits A data cabling system A safety services circuit and device Installation of containment systems (AM2E and AM2S only) Candidates will complete timed tasks in equipped areas that contain typical electrical installation wiring systems – all work must comply with BS7671 Wiring Regulations, industry best practice, and meet the requirements of relevant health and safety legislation. The assessment will be carried out in strict exam conditions across 2.5 days. Do I need an AM2 certificate to work as an electrician? Apprentices must pass their AM2 test in their final year to complete their apprenticeship. Also, if the apprenticeship standard is not being followed, an AM2 certificate and a level three NVQ is required to gain a gold card. If you are already working as an electrician, you will not need an AM2 certificate. If you are training to be an electrician and are registering for your NVQ level three in Electrical Installation or Maintenance, the electrotechnical diploma now includes the AM2. The AM2 certification is an industry recognised and something that many employers will actively seek when hiring new staff. It can also be attractive to potential customers.

LOOKING FOR: ADULT FICTION, NON-FICTION

Florence has been at A M Heath for five years and represents a range of commercial fiction and non-fiction. 

For fiction, comforting, funny and warm reads, as well as gripping page-turners, will always be Florence's cup of tea. Her favourite thing is to escape with a story she can’t put down. If you think your book fits that, then do send it to her. 

Books in this vein that really left her wanting one more chapter include Marian Keyes’s character, Rachel, from Rachel’s Holiday that left Florence with a compassion for addiction that only the most skilled of writers can conjure. Florence finds Catherine Newman to be a genius for making hospice care so funny in We All Want Impossible Things. Smart page turners such as Anatomy of a Scandal, Such a Fun Age, and Tomorrow, and Tomorrow, and Tomorrow, wowed her with clever, gripping prose and complicated, flawed characters she hadn't met before. She also loves older classics like the Cazalet Chronicles and Georgette Heyer’s Regency novels.

Florence is actively looking for writers who are under-represented in the publishing world, through non-traditional channels, as well as her submissions. She’s keen to find non-fiction and fiction writers who speak to a millennial and younger audience, be that a journalist who is looking to expand an idea, a screenwriter who is looking to try their hand at fiction or perhaps an activist with a social media platform.  She is also interested in environmental and social issues.

The authors she represents include Jaspreet Kaur, Salma El-Wardany, Rachel Thompson, Annie Lord, Angelica Malin and Phil Ellis. Their books range from the heart-breaking and profound to the inspirational, funny and wise, with almost everything in between. 

Florence does not wish to receive, YA, Fantasy or Sci-fi. 

Florence would like you to submit a covering letter, 1 page synopsis and the first 5,000 words of your manuscript in a single word document.

This presentation will cover assessment of patients and selection of procedures and a brief overview of procedures available plus of course how to refer. 

Dr Marley is a consultant in Palliative Medicine based in Woodlands Hospice, Aintree. She underwent Palliative Medicine Specialty Training in the Mersey region and has worked in many of the hospices in this area. Her day to day roles include medical lead for IMPaCT North, Education co-lead for LUHFT and Palliative Medicine lead for the Joint Pain and Palliative Care Service in conjunction with the Walton Centre.
