Our 2 day course will enable students who have successfully completed a Level 3 Award in First Aid at Work (QCF or RQF) to re-certify. This first aid at work course is ideal for organisations whose needs assessment has identified a requirement for additional first aid training, such as having employees with a disability or a medical condition. Qualification Information This qualification and learning outcomes are based on the recommendations of: The Resuscitation Council (UK) Skills for Health Assessment Principles for First Aid Qualifications Course Content Following this course students will be able to Understand the role and responsibilities of a first aider. Be able to administer first aid to a casualty with injuries to bones, muscles and joints. Assess an incident. Be able to administer first aid to a casualty with suspected head and spinal injuries. Manage an unresponsive casualty who is breathing normally. Be able to administer first aid to a casualty with suspected chest injuries. Manage an unresponsive casualty who is not breathing normally. Be able to administer first aid to a casualty with burns and scalds. Be able to recognise and assist a casualty who is choking. Be able to administer first aid to a casualty with an eye injury. Be able to manage a casualty with external bleeding. Be able to administer first aid to a casualty with sudden poisoning. Be able to manage a casualty who is in shock. Be able to administer first aid to a casualty with anaphylaxis. Be able to manage a casualty with a minor injury. Be able to provide first aid to a casualty with suspected major illness. Be able to conduct a secondary survey. Who should attend? This qualification is for people who deal with first aid at work. Enabling them to be workplace first aiders under the Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981. This qualification is also for people who have a specific responsibility at work, or in voluntary and community activities. This will allow them to provide basic first aid to people in a range of situations. Pre-requisites Students must be at least 14 years old on the first day of training. Students must be in possession of an in date First Aid at Work Certificate. Assessment and Certifications Assessment of this course is continuous and includes two theory/multiple choice question papers. Successful students will receive an Immerse Training Certificate, which is valid for three years. This certificate will be issued by Qualsafe, the awarding body for Immerse Training. Additional Information Completion of the Level 3 Award in First Aid at Work includes 3 credits at Level 3 of the Regulated Qualifications Framework (RQF). This regulated and nationally recognised basic life support training (BLS) and management of anaphylaxis course allows students to hone their skills and knowledge in BLS and AED use as well as anaphylaxis treatment. This first aid course is intended for individuals who have a specific responsibility at work, at home, or in volunteer and community activities to render basic life support and manage anaphylaxis in the event of an emergency. This course can be adapted to both adults and paediatrics.

Learners will gain the knowledge, skills and competences needed to deal with a wide range of pre-hospital care emergencies, such as: managing a patient’s airways, catastrophic bleeding, management of fractures, medical emergencies and more. Learners must be at least 17 years old on the first day of training. Learners must hold a valid in date FREC3 certificate. The Learner needs to retake the qualification before the certificate expiry date to remain qualified. This qualification is for people who have a specific responsibility at work, or in voluntary and community activities to provide prehospital care to patients requiring emergency care/treatment. It is ideal for those looking to progress their careers within the emergency services, ambulance services, healthcare settings and supports specialist medical roles within law enforcement and security, energy and utilities, construction and military. 

This first aid course is designed for people who have a specific interest or responsibility at work or in voluntary and community activities, such as a first aider, in being able to provide basic life support (BLS) when dealing with an emergency situation that may involve the use of an automated external defibrillator (AED).

We look at what Psychology may help us in our understanding of children who have faced issues with love and attachment. Splitting, handling projected feelings, constancy and permanence are explored. Drawing from the international research and literature and our own experience over many years as educational psychologists of the challenges of children with major social and emotional needs, we will explore together what the best practice can and could look like. We explore the language of attachment and outline very practical classroom strategies. We look at what Psychology may help us in our understanding of children who have faced issues with love and attachment. We explore the feelings of being on a desolate island of relational poverty or to imagine swimming with sharks. We explore the themes of violence, anxiety and experience of being a victim as young people grow older. We look at telling lies and explore how we can respectfully understand this. We reveal the new and innovative compass of vulnerability – the cognitive errors to which some are much more vulnerable. We look at triggers, self regulation and unpack a range of strategies.  Transference and counter transference are examined along with splitting, handling projected feelings, constancy and permanence. We explore what young people with these difficulties really need from us. We also spend time looking at the emotional impact on practitioners working with children with such needs and what helps at an personal and team level.
