Leeds

At Alliance Boxing Club our goal is to provide the opportunity for anyone to keep fit, stay healthy and learn the value of hard work, discipline, self-respect and respect of others. We are an Affiliated Member of the Amateur Boxing Association of England and our trainers are England Boxing Certified. This allows us to provide both a high standard of coaching and offer competitive opportunities to our members on the amateur boxing circuit. We're not all about competitive boxing though. Boxing is a great way to increase fitness levels and manage weight. We have a range of boxing, fitness, strength and conditioning classes, including kids and female only, that provide fun, full body workouts in a positive, friendly atmosphere. Our classes are perfect for helping with weight loss and toning and are designed to allow you to work at your own pace. We can provide 1-2-1 training too or if you prefer you can come down and do your own work out. To keep the club as accessible as possible we like to keep things simple. We don’t charge membership fees or ask you to sign up to contracts. You just pay when you come down to train or take a class. It’s that easy. The club is owned and run by professional boxer Sam Smith and former powerlifter, now boxer Graham Mattison. Sam and Graham are hugely positive and inspiring influences, bringing a wealth of knowledge, experience and enthusiasm to the Club. In 2018 they were winners of the Coach Participation Award at the Leeds Sports Awards. Sam has been boxing for over a decade, has held multiple titles including WBF & WBU. Currently the British Masters Champion she is the only British female in her division to be world ranked. Graham has boxed for about 4 years, prior to which he had great success in powerlifting being ranked second in the world at professional level. Our gym is equipped with an array of boxing equipment including cardio machines, punch bags, free weights and strength and conditioning machines. We have our own club mini bus to help our boxers travel around to competitions and championships. We're conveniently located less than a minute from Crossgates Shopping Centre, just off the Leeds Outer Ring Road, making us easily accessible from all across Leeds and beyond. The gym is on the 1st floor with great access and we have plenty of free secure parking.

British&International Golf GreenkeepersAssociation

Harrogate

Without greenkeepers, there would be no golf. From the pioneering 'Keepers of the Green' that tended the historic links at St Andrews, Prestwick and Musselburgh to today's highly-skilled and dynamic course managers at the UK's top golfing venues, greenkeepers have shaped and defined this wonderful sport. Every step of the way, there has been an association providing them with support, education and advice. In January 1987 the British and International Golf Greenkeepers Association (BIGGA) was created due to an amalgamation of the British Golf Greenkeepers Association, The English and International Golf Greenkeepers Association and The Scottish and International Golf Greenkeepers Association. Since then, we've shone a light for the nation's greenkeepers, and 6,000 turf professionals from the United Kingdom and further afield are proud to call themselves BIGGA members. Now over 30 years old, the British and International Golf Greenkeepers Association is Europe's largest membership greenkeeping association. BIGGA has made outstanding progress to reach its position as a well-respected and integral part of the golf and turf industries. This progress is due to the dedication of very many members who have contributed voluntarily through committee work and support of BIGGA activity, as well as the team of staff based at BIGGA House and in the Regions. The Association was formed to support greenkeepers and greenkeeping and provide a unified voice for the profession.

The Leeds Library

the leeds library

Leeds

The Leeds Library is the oldest surviving subscription library of its type in the UK and was founded in 1768. Annual membership from £66. Founded in 1768, The Leeds Library is a gem of a heritage library and the oldest surviving subscription library of its kind in the British Isles. We have a fascinating history. We’re Leeds’s oldest cultural institution—a thriving hub of creativity, ideas and inspiration and a book lover’s paradise! Amongst our founding members were eminent doctors, surgeons, clergymen, leading industrialists and businessmen, alongside members of The Royal Society. Revd Dr Joseph Priestley, our first secretary and most likely the primary driving force behind the Library’s creation, was perhaps the most famous of these men. A leading enlightenment thinker, radical preacher, and Fellow of The Royal Society, Priestley was celebrated for his experiments concerning electricity and oxygen—and the invention of carbonated water! In the beginning, the Library occupied a back room at Joseph Ogle’s bookshop on Kirkgate and he became the first librarian. When he died in 1774, his daughter, Mary, was appointed Librarian and remained so for another 37 years until her death in 1813. Over this period, the Library proved to be so successful that it outgrew this modest first home and moved further along Kirkgate to the Rotation Office. A few years later and a move to new premises was required once again to house the ever-growing collection of books. In 1808, the Library moved to a new purpose-built home on Commercial Street where we remain to this day. Built by Thomas Johnson, the town’s leading architect, the grade II* listed building is a rare surviving example of a Georgian public library.

Leeds,

WELCOME GLAD YOU ARE HERE. You may be wondering what FL is all about? Toni Morrison’s quote sums it beautifully; “When you get these jobs that you have been so brilliantly trained for, just remember that your real job is that if you are free, you need to free somebody else. If you have some power, then your job is to empower somebody else.” We are a global community of women working in partnership with leaders and progressive organisations to close the gender gap in business. We are a 100% female-owned and run business. Our work is supported by our members who subscribe to our membership platform, enabling them to access resources to transform their career and businesses. Our mission is to create a global digital platform that connects women to opportunities, expertise that will empower them. Every year we celebrate and recognise inspirational female leaders and male agents of change through our awards program, the FL National Awards & Summit. We believe in investing in women and are committed to developing female leaders through our industry-specific leadership development programmes. Our research explores business issues with a gender lens and covers everything that impacts women attraction and progression into critical sectors and leadership positions. Finally, giving back to our communities and paying it forward to the next generation is part of our DNA. This is why we have scholarships in place to support the next generation of female leaders. Each year we also work with charity partners who we raise funds for through our events. Want to know more? Then join thousands of other women in our community by subscribing to our newsletter.
