SMART Improvement Planning & Implementation

It is vitally important that all adults working with a child with Down syndrome understands their learning needs and how to meet these needs. All teaching staff are welcome to join our Introduction to Down syndrome course for FREE. It will run at the beginning of each term. To enhance your practice further we suggest staff working closely with the child are also trained in signing, using visuals to support language development and teaching basic number skills. Each term these additional three courses will follow on from the Introduction to Down syndrome course over several weeks.

The Pass Plus Scheme is not a test, it is an evaluation by your instructor who, when satisfied that you are competent in each of the above types of driving situation will issue a pass plus certificate.

The 3 day Surf Coach Safety and Rescue Award establishes a standard that demonstrates the level of competence in lifesaving to meet the needs of becoming and operating as a Surf Coach. The course is physically demanding and will include swimming to set times and lifting. A two-day Immunisation Training Course for Healthcare Support Workers/Healthcare Assistants (HCSWs/HCAs).

A half day course that looks at the implications of the recent NICE guideline changes to the management of hypertension. The course gives a brief introduction to the pathophysiology of hypertension and the ways in which it is investigated and treated.

This course will equip non-registrants to allocate patients safely into face to face or telephone appointments, with an appropriate practitioner or service. The course will also equip non-registered staff to question for, recognise and allocate patients with urgent health needs.
