The CITB Site Managers Safety Training Scheme course is designed for site managers, or aspiring site managers. It is designed for those with responsibility for managing, monitoring, implementing and reporting in a construction environment.

Assessment
To successfully achieve the course, delegates must:
Complete all four core exercises
Pass the trainer review and
Pass the end of course exam

The trainer review provides a pass/fail based on the delegate's performance and engagement in the core exercises and engagement in the course overall. Details of this are provided in XA6T.

The paper consists of 25 questions, selected by CITB, covering all aspects of the course. The exam must be taken at the end of the course. Each
Exam paper has:
18 multiple choice questions (each worth one mark)
7 questions in multi-response or short written answer format (each worth two marks)

The exam pass mark is 81% (26 out of 32). The exam lasts for 35 minutes and must be completed within this time under exam conditions. Delegates are permitted to use the Construction site safety - The comprehensive guide (GE700) publication and the Construction site management delegate workbook (XA6) for the last 15 minutes of the exam.

Length of Course
This is a five-day course. Delegates are required to complete the full course (37.5 hours) to be eligible for certification.

The course covers relevant health, safety and environmental legislation affecting safe working in the building, construction and civil engineering industries. It highlights the need for risk assessment in the workplace, the implementation of the necessary control measures, and adequate communication to sustain a health and safety culture among the workforce. 

The SMSTS course is endorsed by Build UK as the standard training for all construction managers.

<h2>Course Details</h2>Overview of the CITB TWCTC Course
The Temporary works coordinator training course (TWCTC) is designed to assist those on site who have responsibility for managing all forms of temporary works. The course has been designed to give confidence to senior management, and to ensure that those who engage contractors have an assessed standard of knowledge.This course will give the delegate a thorough knowledge of the temporary works coordinator (TWC) role. However, this does not make a delegate competent by itself. Competence requires other attributes, such as experience. 

Entry requirements
There are no formal entry requirements. However, delegates should hold, or be about to hold, the role of a TWC.

Assessment
Assessment will be by a multiple-choice examination at the end of the course. Delegates will also be expected to interact and participate during the course. 

The examination paper is compulsory and consists of 25 multiple-choice questions selected by CITB. It forms the basis of assessing whether a delegate has achieved a sufficient level of understanding to be awarded the Temporary works coordinator training course (TWCTC) certificate. 

The examination lasts for 30 minutes and must be completed within this time. 
The examination is open book.
The examination pass mark is 72%

Length of Course
This course is designed to be completed over two consecutive days. Delegates are required to attend both days (14 hours) and to pass the end-of-course assessment to be eligible for certification.

The natural progression from this course would be to either the Site management safety training scheme (SMSTS) or Director's role for health and safety (DRHS) course, where duties allow. 

The course is supported by a number of organisations, including the Temporary Works forum, CECA, Build UK, HSE and FMB. This enables transferability of the training within the industry. Temporary works are safety- and business-critical and require careful coordination. An accepted way of achieving this is through the adoption of the management process outlined in BS 5975:2019, which introduces the temporary works coordinator (TWC) as a key figure. This course explains the role and its overall management context. Temporary works on both smaller and larger sites can be high risk. Therefore, understanding the essentials of good risk and safety management, as outlined in BS 5975:2019, is relevant for projects of all sizes.

The CITB Site supervision safety training scheme (SSSTS) course is designed for those who have, or are about to acquire, supervisory responsibilities. The course covers all relevant legislation and other aspects which affect safe working in the building, construction and civil engineering industries. It highlights the need for risk assessment in the workplace, the implementation of the necessary control measures, and adequate communication to sustain a health and safety culture among the workforce. 

Entry requirements
Delegates should hold, or be about to hold, the role of a supervisor. Delegates must be competent in English at site supervisor level. 

Assessment
Assessment will be by an end of course examination and the trainer review. 

The examination paper is compulsory and consists of 25 questions, selected by CITB, covering all aspects of the course. The examination pass mark is 80% (24 out of 30). The paper consists of 22 multiple choice questions and three short written questions. There are four safety critical questions in each exam paper. The delegate must answer all four of these questions correctly to pass the exam. The multiple-choice questions are worth 1 point each, whereas written questions can score between 1-3 marks. 

Delegates will need to pass all three elements of the trainer review to gain a pass. 
The three elements of the trainer review are as follows: 
Exercise - overall, thinking about the delegate's performance in the group exercise, did they work well as part of the team?
Has the delegate actively engaged with the course and the group? 
Has the learner completed the toolbox talk?
All three elements will be either a pass (yes) or fail (no) and all three elements will need to achieve a pass for the delegate to pass this element of the course. 

Length of Course
This is a two-day course. Delegates are required to complete the full course (15 hours) to be eligible for certification. 

A natural progression from this course would be to attend the Site Management Safety Training Scheme (SMSTS) course.

Setting workplace boundaries to improve your wellbeing

Many people struggle to set boundaries because of a niggling fear that they will be letting people down, upsetting authority or come across as difficult. But healthy boundaries are essential to look after our wellbeing and therefore our effectiveness at work. 

Some of the keys to setting great boundaries are knowing what you want (or don't want), why that matters to you and being able to communicate that to others in an assertive way - confident but friendly. And there are tools to help you achieve this.

I have designed all the slides myself for thee 10-week courses, as I wanted to use my 10+ years of experience to develop something different from the traditional “here’s a textbook” approach that lots of evening classes use. This class is designed to get you speaking in a way that will propel you forward with your language skills in practical settings. 
Each learner is entitled to a free 15-minute introduction session on Zoom so that we can get to know each other and assess your current level. I will also talk you through the controls on Zoom if you are not familiar with how to use it. 
Each course is comprised of 10 x 1 hour sessions. The groups will contain approximately 3-4 students (with an absolute maximum of 6 students) and are designed to encourage learners to strengthen their speaking skills in a relaxed, friendly atmosphere & learn language skills in a social environment. If you miss a session, it may be possible to join another class running the same session at another time that week, or you can request receiving the learning materials via email. 
The courses are designed to have practical application for travel & learning for personal interest. I firmly believe having a grammar component is key for long-term success with learning a language, but I promise to break it down so that it isn’t overwhelming!
When a 10-week course finishes, it will be followed by three weeks of optional revision classes. After this, you can simply choose to join the next level course, until you reach a level where you can join our conversation classes.
You may also like to consider a blended learning approach; group classes are friendlier for your budget than private one-to-one tuition, but top up any time with one of my private lessons to consolidate your learning, ask further questions, revisiting themes or investigate a topic of particular interest to you that may not be covered in the short course. 
This specific course is for those with little or no knowledge of the Spanish language.
