Carried out by qualified instructors, the Manual Handling Training course is designed to cover a number of Manual Handling topics. It will enable the candidate on completion to recognise a manual handling problem. It will give them the tools to be able to initiate a risk assessment and lift or carry in a safe manner. We can deliver these courses in-house or to gain Qualsafe certification. Fully Qualified and Highly Experienced Instructors. Half day course (2-3 Hours). Our courses include the following subject areas: The requirements of the Manual Handling Operations Regulations. The legal requirements to provide Manual Handling Training. Principles of good movement. The anatomy of the spine. Manual Handling related injuries. Mechanics of incorrect and correct manual handling techniques. Practical exercises. Risk Assessment and its practical application. There is a Maximum of up to 20 Candidates per Manual Handling training course, however we can run two courses per day with one manual handling instructor. We also have more manual handling instructors available, if it is required. This means we can run courses simultaneously should the facilities be available to do so. The course information is based on the Manual Handling Operations Regulations 1992, amended 2002. It is also covered under the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974. First Aid At Work Regulations: In the event of injury or sudden illness, failure to provide first aid could result in a casualty’s death. The employer should ensure that an employee who is injured or taken ill at work receives immediate attention. HSE will prosecute in cases where there is a significant risk, a disregard for established standards or persistent poor compliance with the law. HSE First Aid at Work – IMPORTANT! After 1st October 2013 the HSE is no longer responsible for approving providers of First Aid at Work courses. Providers must be approved by an Ofqual or SQA Awarding Body. P402 Surveying and sampling strategies for asbestos in buildings is the industry standard qualification for asbestos surveyors. In addition to holding the qualification, asbestos surveyors are required to undertake and provide evidence of annual refresher training. Previously, BOHS provided two Refresher courses for this purpose: P402RM (Management) and P402RRD (Refurbishment and Demolition). This new course, RP402 Refresher - Surveying and Sampling Strategies for Asbestos in Buildings, replaces P402RM and P402RRD. RP402 Refresher enables candidates to revise and update their knowledge on all types of asbestos surveys, and to receive a certificate of course completion by passing a written examination, which covers both the theory and practice of surveying for asbestos in buildings.

The course covers investigation and risk assessment of asbestos-contaminated soils and sites, including waste classification and land remediation. It will cover the current HSE and EA legislation and guidance, assessing risk to health from asbestos in soils and how to assess the land, analysis types and interpretation, and remedial actions.

This course is aimed at those who analyse and identify asbestos from within samples collected on site

Planned changes to the Construction Skills Certification Scheme mean that from September 2017, Construction Related Occupation (CRO) cards will be phased out. Without registration on an accepted course, or an industry-recognised qualification for your trade, you will not be able to apply for a CSCS card, unless you apply for the CSCS Labourer Card, to access construction sites. An IOSH Working Safely Certificate, along with a CITB Health & Safety Certificate, allows you to apply for a Labourer Card. Therefore, from September 2017, without a CSCS card, you won't get on site. The Labourer Card may be the only way you can get on site.
