Sometimes, the simplest photos are the hardest ones to take. How do you make an impeccable portrait of a loved-one or of a friend on the spot, and with only the help of natural lighting? Basically, how do you manage without a studio and all its controllability, and end up satisfied with an expressive and successful portrait?It is essential to take the environment into consideration when composing a portrait. Managing the background's colours and graphics, choosing the point of view, directing the model - these are all points that will be covered during the course.Light control is an equally important aspect; in particular, analysing a given moment's light and using it wisely are elements that will be explained to help you make a successful portrait.This workshop will teach you:- How to observe the environment so as to guide your aesthetic choices: point of view, directing a model- How to "read" light and place your subject accordingly- How to correctly define parameters in your camera according to your desired result- How to frame and compose an image to highlight the subjectThe workshop includes a theoretical explanation, a main "practical" part, as well as a class debriefing at the end. With experience in music technology, composing, producing music for video, film scoring, composition and more, Jack’s expertise will help guide budding music producers on their journey to creating amazing music for a variety of formats.  Jack is currently studying a BA in Musical Theatre at the Conservatoire, and also has professional training at Hurtwood House, Guildford School of Acting and Stagecoach in a number of musical styles and genres, as well as experience in musical theatre audition technique, so he is a great asset to our teaching faculty who can advise in a number of areas. When you join this 2-day intensive course, you’ll learn the art of production which can help every type of creative to showcase their musical talents in the best way. This course will help students develop skills to produce music for outlets such as film and television soundtracks, and music videos, and musicians will even have the opportunity to write and play contemporary music for performance. ‍ WHEN AND WHERE? The Music Production Masterclass takes place in Cranleigh Arts Centre, around 20 minutes from Guildford. In this one-day introduction to grain setting techniques, you will learn how to set small stones in a selection of styles. We will begin with a simple single stone grain setting before moving onto a traditional star setting and finally a row of five stones in a thread and grain style setting. During the day we will also look at considerations for grain setting as well as the preparation of tools and possible applications. WHEN: Saturday 14th September 10-5pm WHERE:  Workshop 925 based at The Mayford Centre, just outside of Woking and very close to Guildford. We will discuss how to lay out the stones within the setting and discuss fine tolerances. You will then prepare your ring for setting before you begin drilling and opening the channel and finally set the stones in place. By the end of the day you will have the knowledge needed to apply these advanced techniques to your own designs.
