They will arrange an induction and together with your assessor, you will get to decide on the pathway which best proves your competency. The induction is used to plan out how you will gather the relevant evidence to complete the course. During the course - The assessor will work with you to build a portfolio of evidence that allows you to showcase your knowledge, skills and experience. The assessor will also regularly review and provide you with feedback. This will allow you to keep on track to progress quickly. You will be assessed through various methods such as observations, written questions, evidence generated from the workplace, professional discussion, and witness testimonials. Our Learning Programme creates opportunities for all visual artists, craft makers and art workers in Scotland to undertake training to improve their sector skills, address the barriers to freelance work, and participate fully as workers within the sector. All of our bespoke workshops and courses are free and created in direct response to our members’ needs; delivering specialist events on a variety of topics across Scotland and across disciplines. The union considers work-based learning as a crucial and critical intervention into the structure of freelance work; acknowledging its material conditions in order to organise around issues.

Hi, I am Scott and I started Wee Wobblers in 2017. The inspiration for the classes was my love of cycling and teaching my daughter Ayla how to ride her bike. I have always loved Ayla taking part in group learning and classes and when I looked for something like Wee Wobblers there was very little being offered in Scotland. I started in Paisley Lagoon in 2017 offering two classes, very quickly this became three and then to meet the demand we started to offer Sunday sessions in Renfrew. Speaking with the parents in the classes I realised that people were travelling from near and far to our classes which gave me the confidence to expand. Fast forward to today and Wee Wobblers has expanded across the West of Scotland offering classes in 6 areas with a total of 23 classes a week!! We are very lucky to have a great team of instructors who all have a passion for teaching children how to cycle. All our areas follow the same structure and lesson plans as our formula for teaching the children has proven to been highly successful. Terri has worked in the industry for over 30 years and has enjoyed great success working with Reebok, Daily Record, Scottish Slimmers and most recently Westender Magazine Glasgow, to name just a few. During that busy time Terri also enjoyed a post as a beauty therapy and makeup artistry lecturer at various colleges in Scotland and is still lecturing part time at City of Glasgow College. Here at you School of Makeup we have a small and intimate learning environment with classes comprising from only 4 to 6 students (excluding the Girls day Out course.) We have carefully tailored our courses to the needs of busy men and women who are in the industry and also for people who just need to be pampered. Leading building and construction specialist, The JR Group, has launched a new scaffold inspection service as part of its new training services division. The service will provide a thorough seven-day scaffolding inspection in accordance with the Working at Height Regulations, 2005. The launch from the firm, which has more than 25 years of expertise in the field, meets massive demand from the sector, offering a fully compliant service to comply with SG4. As well as mandatory weekly scaffold inspections, the team will also provide one off inspections, independent scaffold inspections, Anchor Tie Pull Out Testing, PASMA aluminium tower inspections, advanced design structure inspections and incident and accident investigations. Expert advice on access solutions will also be on offer. All audits and inspection reports will provide detailed information regarding remedial works required within an appropriate timescale, complete with photographs. Ronnie Charters, HSEQ Manager for JR Scaffold will be leading with the new inspection service. He has more 30 years’ experience within the scaffold industry and is the current regional chair for Scotland / Northern Ireland for NASC. As the NCC / CITB access instructor / safety advisor for all National Construction colleges throughout the UK, Ronnie has been carrying out safety site audits and scaffolding weekly inspections for various clients throughout the UK and abroad for more than 20 years. Ronnie Charters, HSEQ Manager, said: “We are very excited to be able to offer this invaluable service to the industry considering the current high demand, and at the same time satisfying the shortage of accredited, competent personnel available to carry out this type of work. “The demand for this type of service is massive as there is a conflict of interest once a company erects a structure and carries out its own scaffold inspections. Introducing an impartial company to carry out audits and inspections provides peace of mind for all involved. “By using a service like this, it will ensure that all scaffold structures meet appropriate safety standards before first use, and they will be inspected at intervals of no more than the seven days until it is dismantled. It will inspect structures after extreme weather conditions, high winds or any other events likely to affect its strength or stability, as well as after any substantial additions or alterations or after any unauthorised or third-party interference. “We look forward to rolling this service out, providing much-needed support to the sector.” The JR Group employs around 200 staff and was founded in Govan in 1995. It started as a scaffolding business and is now one of the largest building and construction firms in Scotland. The business operates throughout Scotland and Northern England working on behalf of a number of the UK’s leading housebuilders, registered social landlords and private clients.
