Minimum number no refund policy
To ensure we can always pay our creatives a fair fee, we require a minimum number of bookings for each workshop and for this reason bookings are non-refundable. Should we have to cancel due to low numbers, we will offer you the option to swap to an alternative date or workshop, or to request a refund.
We do our very best to avoid cancellations. Since we often get late bookings, we keep our workshops on sale for as long as possible. Make two fabulous festive soap and skincare gift sets on this one day workshop with The Scottish Soapworks in Edinburgh City Centre.
This is a one day, beginner-friendly organic glycerine soap making and cream blending workshop with a Christmas twist!
You will learn how to make two 100g soap bars, and blend 200g of Vitamin E-rich hand and body cream, using a specially selected tried-and-tested recipe featuring gorgeous festive-themed scents.
During the day, you will also learn about the properties of essential oils, and share tips and ideas for gift wrapping.
A selection of hot drinks - including mulled wine tea! - and mince pies will be served to get you in the mood. 
The day will end with a gift wrapping session around our festive craft table, with a selection of items to choose from.
Earth conscious credentials
We are mindful of the effect we have on the environment, and do our best to minimise our impact.
All ingredients, packaging and wraps used on this workshop are eco-friendly. Gift wrap items on the craft table may also include recycled and re-usable packaging options.
You will take all the lovely products you have created home with you on the day, and workshop correspondence and notes are sent to you electronically.

Our Art & Wine Evenings offer a fun, relaxed and creative night out in Edinburgh's fabulous city centre, and are perfect for those who want to re-engage with their creative side, or just enjoy a bit of escapism.
With hands-on help from local painter Suzanne Kemplay, you will learn how to create your very own still life, portrait or landscape painting using acrylic paints, while enjoying a glass of wine served with cheese and crackers.
You don't have to be able to draw, so it's perfect for beginners as well as those who are new to using acrylic paints. And we think you'll be amazed at what you can achieve in one evening!
Suzanne offers a range of themes throughout the year, and you will be given a choice of 2 options to paint on the night. She'll also provide a brief background to the artist's work, and support throughout the evening to help you make the most of your time.

<p fr-original-style="" style="color: var(--text); font-size: var(--font-size); box-sizing: border-box;">On this silver clay jewellery taster workshop, you will create a pendant and/or pair of earrings from hallmark-quality silver with specialist, Edinburgh-based jeweller Anna Campbell.&nbsp;<br fr-original-style="" style="box-sizing: border-box;">&nbsp;<br fr-original-style="" style="box-sizing: border-box;">You will learn how to make jewellery out of a material called silver clay, which is made up of recycled silver particles, an organic binder and water. Silver clay requires with very little equipment so it&#39;s perfect for those wanting to learn a new skill they can easily do at home.<br fr-original-style="" style="box-sizing: border-box;">&nbsp;<br fr-original-style="" style="box-sizing: border-box;">You will be taken through all the steps to create your own piece ready for firing. The dried clay is fired with a butane torch to form it into silver (but a cr&egrave;me brul&eacute; torch will do the trick!). Master the art of soldering: a jewellery workshop for metal clay artists
Designed for jewellery makers who work with metal clay but haven’t yet ventured into soldering, this full-day workshop is the perfect next step in advancing your skills. 
Originally created by your tutor Anna Campbell, one of the leading metal clay teachers in the UK, for the London Jewellery School, this intermediate course was developed in response to student requests for a follow-up to beginners’ silver clay class, offering a deeper dive into traditional jewellery-making techniques.
In this hands-on workshop, you’ll learn the essential skill of soldering, enabling you to expand your creative possibilities by crafting different types of jewellery, including stud earrings, cufflinks, and pendants. Whether you’re looking to start selling your jewellery, or simply want to create high-quality pieces for yourself or as gifts, this course is tailored to help you achieve your goals.
What you'll learn and create
Design and create with silver clay
As a refresher, we’ll start by designing and crafting stud earrings, cufflinks, and a pendant using silver clay, reminding you of the techniques you’ve already learned (don’t worry if it’s been a while, we’ll cover it step-by-step). 
Soldering techniques
The majority of the day will focus on mastering the art of soldering, where you’ll learn:
How to solder earring posts onto your designs to create studs;
How to solder cufflink backs to your silver clay pieces;
How to solder a jump ring onto a pendant, eliminating the need to drill a hole.
Plus many more tips, including how to make your own pickle (for cleaning metal).
Comprehensive learning experience
We’ll cover two types of soldering, explore the equipment and materials required (which isn’t much more than what you already use for silver clay), and troubleshoot common challenges. You’ll have plenty of supervised practice, and by the end of the day, you’ll feel confident in your ability to solder and take your jewellery-making to the next level - even from home!
What’s included
The cost of the course includes materials worth over £30, such as 10g of silver clay, sterling silver cufflink backs, a pair of stud earrings, and butterflies - everything you need to complete the class. 
This workshop is ideal for anyone who has completed a beginner’s silver clay course or has experience working with metal clay and is ready to advance their skills in the art of jewellery-making.

If you have ever wanted to explore sketchbook journalling, this exclusive new workshop with the Edinburgh Sketcher is the perfect place to start.
On this 3.5 hour workshop, artist Mark Kirkham - known locally as the Edinburgh Sketcher - will show you how to capture what you see quickly and lift your sketches off the page using a little watercolour, and share why sketchbook journalling has become such an important part of his day-to-day life.

Sketching items from still life, you will learn how to choose what to include; and how to link your sketches together using colour and composition. 
Starting with a new sketchbook, Mark will help you overcome any fears you have of facing the blank page, and build your confidence with mark making. 
Using the tips and techniques you learn on the day, you will leave ready to continue your sketchbook journalling at home.
This workshop will be held indoors in our welcoming and supportive environment in Edinburgh's City Centre New Town.
The price includes locally-sourced Shibui teas and Mr Eion coffee, a wee snack, and all the materials you need to get started.

<p fr-original-style="" style="color: var(--text); font-size: var(--font-size); box-sizing: border-box;">On this one-day Introduction to silver clay jewellery making workshop - suitable for beginners or those that have attended our silver jewellery taster workshop and wish to develop their skills - you will create three different pieces of jewellery.<br fr-original-style="" style="box-sizing: border-box;">&nbsp;<br fr-original-style="" style="box-sizing: border-box;">Using silver clay, a material made up of recycled silver particles, an organic binder and water that can easily be used at home with little need for equipment, your expert tutor, Edinburgh-based jeweller Anna Campbell, will take you through all the steps needed to create your own pieces ready for firing. The dried clay is fired with a butane torch to form it into silver (at home a cr&egrave;me brul&eacute; torch will also do the job). The resulting pieces are silver of hallmark quality - modern-day alchemy!<br fr-original-style="" style="box-sizing: border-box;"><br fr-original-style="" style="box-sizing: border-box;">The projects you will make during this one-day workshop include a pair of earrings, a stone-set pendant and a moulded charm. Step into the world of jewellery making with this hands-on beginner-friendly workshop, where you’ll create three unique pieces of silver jewellery from scratch!
Over the course of this workshop day, you’ll explore the versatility of silver clay and handmake three stunning projects, each designed to teach you essential skills while sparking your creativity.
What is silver metal clay?
Silver clay is a material manufactured from 100% recycled silver, a plant-based organic binder and water. The silver is recycled from X-rays, the photographic industry, electronics, and the like. You don’t need a lot of tools and equipment to get started and all pieces made on this workshop can be fired with a creme brule torch.
Here’s what you’ll learn and create on this workshop:
Design and craft a pair of earrings (or pendant/charm). Start your journey by designing and crafting a personalized pair of earrings. Don’t have pierced ears? No problem! You can choose to make a beautiful pendant or a bracelet charm instead. Learn how to work with silver clay, texture and shape your pieces and what is possible with this material. 
Make your own custom silicone mould and silver clay charm. Discover the magic of mould-making as you create your very own silicone mould from any object of your choice. You can bring small items of your own e.g. buttons, charms, shells etc or choose from the large selection we have for you! You’ll then use this mould to create a unique silver clay charm, adding a truly personal touch to your jewellery. This technique opens up endless possibilities for future designs.
Craft a gorgeous stone-set pendant. Add a touch of elegance to your jewellery with a stone setting. In this project, you’ll design a stunning pendant and learn how to set a fireable gemstone into silver clay, adding a touch of colour to your design. You will also learn more about which gemstones can be set in silver clay. 
Throughout the workshop, you’ll be guided step-by-step by Anna Campbell, one of the leading metal clay teachers in the UK, making this a fun and accessible class for complete beginners. You’ll leave with three pieces of handmade jewellery, new skills, and a strong foundation in working with silver clay.
