On this silver clay jewellery taster workshop, you will create a pendant and/or pair of earrings from hallmark-quality silver with specialist, Edinburgh-based jeweller Anna Campbell.&nbsp; &nbsp; You will learn how to make jewellery out of a material called silver clay, which is made up of recycled silver particles, an organic binder and water. Silver clay requires with very little equipment so it&#39;s perfect for those wanting to learn a new skill they can easily do at home. &nbsp; You will be taken through all the steps to create your own piece ready for firing. The dried clay is fired with a butane torch to form it into silver (but a cr&egrave;me brul&eacute; torch will do the trick!). You&rsquo;ll then polish your silver jewellery ready to take home. &nbsp; This taster class is perfect for giving you an idea of the possibilities of this unique material. Our workshops are planned with adults in mind. Many are suitable for teenagers, but some may require under 16s to be accompanied for insurance purposes. The adult can take the workshop alongside the child&nbsp;or sit in our comfortable seating area. For children between the ages of 8 and 12, we suggest that they attend the 3-hour Silver Clay Taster workshop to see how they enjoy using the material.

We are mindful of the effect we have on the environment, and do our best to minimise our impact.
Silver clay is a material manufactured from 100% recycled silver, a plant-based organic binder and water. The silver is recycled from X-rays, the photographic industry, electronics, and the like. You don’t need a lot of tools and equipment to get started, and all pieces made on this workshop can be fired with a creme brûlée torch. 
You also take all the lovely products you have created home with you on the day, and workshop correspondence and notes are sent to you electronically.

Our taster and introductory workshops focus on teaching creative skills and methods you can continue practising at home, using affordable materials and equipment. Where more expensive equipment is required we will mention this in the workshop description.

Accessibility

Minimum number no refund policy
To ensure we can always pay our creatives a fair fee, we require a minimum number of bookings for each workshop and for this reason bookings are non-refundable. Should we have to cancel due to low numbers, we will offer you the option to swap to an alternative date or workshop, or to request a refund.
We do our very best to avoid cancellations. Since we often get late bookings, we keep our workshops on sale for as long as possible. We realise that some of you travel from afar, so if you book a space and have not yet received an email confirming your workshop is going ahead and need to make plans for your trip, please get in touch before booking any travel or accommodation so we can update you on booking numbers. On this, 3 hour or 5 hour introduction to macram&eacute; workshop with Edinburgh artist Lucy Wayman, you get the opportunity to work on longer projects.&nbsp;You can choose to create a plant or pot hanger, or stay on to work on a more larger macram&eacute; project, such as a double plant hanger, wall hanging or bag.&nbsp;
The workshop will start with the basic principles and techniques of macram&eacute;, allowing you to build your confidence by creating small projects such as a key ring, before moving on to designing and creating your plant hanger, bespoke wall hanging, or bag.
Once you feel more confident, you will learn how to calculate rope lengths and plan designs to create your chosen hand-crafted macram&eacute; project&nbsp;using 100% cotton rope and a selection of coloured twines. A helpful instruction manual will be provided to guide you through your project.If you opt for the plant hanger project your workshop will finish after 3 hours. The longer wall hanging and bag projects last for an extra 2 hours, i.e. a 5 hour workshop.
This three-in-one workshop gives extra time for people who feel confident with the basics to challenge themselves with more elaborate designs under Lucy&#39;s guidance.

Spaces on our workshops and courses are limited so that our creative team of artists and makers can offer you the hands-on help and support you need to make the most of your time with us.

Using the Monovette system in aspiration mode - correct use and applications.
Using the Monovette system in evacuated mode - correct use and applications.
4 - IR Vein Detector:
Demonstration of the IR vein detector for assisting in detection of difficult veins.
5 - Veins in back of hand:
Detecting suitable veins in the back of the hand.
6 - POC testing:
Point of Care Testing - use of glucose meter to demonstrate a typical POC test procedure. Correct use and overview of other POC test devices.
7 - Using lancets (finger collection)
We look at the correct use of lancets for POC testing and whole blood micro-collection.
8 - Using lancets (heel collection)
We look at the correct use of lancets for neonatal blood spot tests (Guthrie Test).
9 - Capillary collection
Using glass capillary tubes for micro-collection. Correct use and handling.

Complete this easy-to-follow Neonatal & Paediatric Phlebotomy eLearning course on your computer, mobile phone, laptop, kindle or tablet at your own pace and in your own time.
Learn essential skills and techniques used by phlebotomists to draw blood from neonates and paediatrics. Covers many of the skills developed by medical professionals working in Special Care Baby Units and Children's Wards.
The course can be completed in stages - you have 8 weeks to complete the course in full. Once completed you will immediately be able to download your pass certificate. (Your new accredited certificate will be posted to you within 6-8 weeks).
The nationally recognised and accredited certificate (awarded by the Open College Network) can be added to your existing certificate credit value (cumulative credits), and these may also count towards other similar college or university courses.
This course complements our Introduction to Phlebotomy Course and is a natural progression route for practising and experienced phlebotomists wishing to expand on their existing phlebotomy qualifications. The course is also open to anyone completing another (approved) provider's phlebotomy training course.
At the end of each e-learning section (module) you have a series of multiple choice questions to answer. You can re-sit each section a total of 3 times.

You currently work (or have recently worked) as a phlebotomist and wish to add to your existing accreditations and increase your scope for work.
You have completed the Introduction to Phlebotomy Course or have completed a similar course from an approved supplier. We do not recommend this course if you do not have a basic phlebotomy qualification.

Alongside the date for the course, you'll be sent an additional dates for an Orientation call and a Mentoring call. These are additional learning opportunities we provide for free on top of your training dates. These are optional and not compulsory, but we do recommend you attend if you are able. 
The Orientation call provides context and an introduction to the course, we will explain what happens over the training dates, talk you through requirements and a space for you to ask any questions. It's also a chance for you to connect with your learning system ahead of the course.
The Mentoring call is a 90-minute session to reconnect with your learning system and your leaders to embed everything you've learned in the course. It's a space to share your experiences of using the tools and skills and to ask the leaders for input on any experiences you've had whilst coaching relationships. It's a fantastic opportunity to deepen your experience of the tools and skills you've learnt and fine-tune your practice.
