Adobe After Effects CC is the industry leader in video compositing software, offering an exciting and versatile array of applications for the creation of professional moving image work. On this course you will learn a range of visual effects and animation techniques, working between Photoshop and After Effects to create videos which explore text based motion graphics, character animation, green-screen compositing, 3D landscapes, motion tracking and lots more in-between. Alongside technical exercises the tutor will screen and discuss relevant artists, designers and filmmakers, providing both the technical skills and inspiration to create your own professional motion graphics work, filmic special effects or experimental artists video. Computer experience is required. Week 1 This week we will create a short video that combines text, still image and video layers. Through this exercise you will learn how to: Navigate the workspace on After Effects Set up a project and select a video format Introduce video to the timeline and split layers Change the position and scale of layers Introduce basic text Use selections in Photoshop to create a still image composition Import this composition into After Effects to create a composite video. Week 2 This week we will look at basic animation techniques. Through a series of exercises, you will learn how to: Use Photoshop to great multi-layered elements for animation Import these Photoshop elements into After Effects Work with key-frames and interpolation Add motion blur Duplicate and pre-compose animated elements Create a parallax effect to give the illusion of depth Apply blending modes Work with the puppet tool to create moving joints for an animated character Week 3 This week we will look at converting 2D photographs into a 3D virtual space to provide depth and movement. Through a series of exercises, you will learn how to: Convert a 2D image into a 3D space Set up a multi-layered diorama in Photoshop Import this into After Effects and position the layers within 3D space Create an animated camera move through 3D space Apply depth of field Week 4 This week we will look at working with green-screen compositing to place a live action figure within an animated backdrop. Through a series of exercises, you will learn how to: Work with the Keylight filter Adjust colour balance and tone Composite the figure against an animated background Introduce shadows and highlights Use the green-screen figure to create a silhouette Week 5 This week we will look at applying masks to footage to create cutouts, as well as exploring different applications for effects. Through a series of exercises, you will learn how to: Work with masks Use the Roto-mask tool Apply time re-mapping Work with ‘Particle Playground’ and similar effects Week 6 This week we will look at working with the paint panel to create animated drawings, as well as using motion tracking to attach a text element to a moving point within a video clip. Finally, we will cover how to output your final project, adding sound effects and applying a basic edit. This seminar is aimed at counselling and psychotherapy practitioners working with members of the LGBTI+ community who are presenting material and/or concerns about the use of illicit drugs, such as Methamphetamine, Mephedrone and GHB/GBL in combination with sex (Chemsex).  The seminar will provide insights into the latest research by presenting case material from a PhD project and focuses on fostering a non-stigmatising/pathologising, shame-reducing approach to clinical practice with this client group. Participants will gain an understanding of the phenomenon by examining the practice from within different therapeutic approaches.   ABOUT THE PRESENTER: Peter Hellsten is a psychodynamic (eclectic) psychotherapist in private practice at A Quiet Room and has worked extensively with members of the LGBT+ community. He is a PhD candidate and qualitative researcher at The University of Edinburgh, where he is working on a project concerning gay men’s sexual behaviour and Chemsex.

About this Virtual Instructor Led Training (VILT) A large amount of geological data is acquired at a substantial cost when carrying out a drilling operation. Ensuring optimal quality of this information and effective reporting plays a key role during well design and drilling operations. In addition, there is much to benefit from the later usage of the data in field studies. A critical component that ensures favourable and positive results is the close co-operation between geological, drilling and well engineering departments. Comprising 5 half-day sessions, this Virtual Instructor Led Training (VILT) course aims to provide the required knowledge in order for the collaboration to be most effective and successful. This VILT course will comprise lectures interspersed with practical and interactive exercises and quizzes to promote better understanding. Training Objectives At the end of this VILT course, participants will be able to: Understand the techniques used by wellsite geologists in formation evaluation via: Quick-look analysis to assess reservoir and hydrocarbons Mudlog data (lithology/cutting description, gas readings) Grasp the application of wellsite data in exploration and development Be able to read, assess and use drilling reports Acquire an understanding of drilling problems caused by subsurface conditions Understand the role and contributions of the geologist to the well maturation process Target Audience This VILT course is intended for geologists and other subsurface staff involved in drilling operations who would like to work and communicate more effectively with wellsite staff.  Please note that this VILT course is not a preparation course for a wellsite assignment. About this Training Course Gas wells are the most uncertain hence critical component of any gas production system. A successful gas project relies on a reliable forecast of gas well production and on timely implementation of measures that restore, sustain and improve gas well capacity, and maximize reserves. This 5-day course provides the skills to understand and analyze (changes in) gas well performance, and to select and design those remedial measures. It addresses all four gas well components i.e. reservoir performance, inflow performance, outflow performance and surface performance, individually and combined. In depletion-drive reservoirs, the gas well outflow performance becomes inevitably compromised as the reservoir pressure depletes and the gas rate becomes insufficient to lift liquid water and condensate to surface. This condition is referred to as liquid loading and causes significant loss of well capacity and reserves. This 5-day course provides the means to recognize and predict liquid loading, introduces the deliquification techniques that mitigate liquid loading, and then teaches how to select, design, install and operate the optimum suite of deliquification measures. Training Objectives On completion of this course, participants will be able to: Recognize and model gas well reservoir, inflow, outflow and surface performance Understand and model gas well production forecast and reserves Identify and model gas well performance threats and opportunities, specifically liquid loading and deliquification Select and justify remedial measures that mitigate those threats or realize those opportunities, specifically deliquification measures Understand design, installation and operation of those deliquification measures Target Audience This course is intended for production engineer, surveillance engineer, completion engineer, production/process chemist, reservoir engineer, production programmer, production operator, as well as other professionals responsible for selecting, installing, operating, monitoring and optimizing deliquification. Learn to carve wood starting with this nice little project of a Dala horse. The basic shape has been formed using a bandsaw so you will add detail and learn about carving following the grain of the wood. You will learn safe wood carving techniques using the Mora 120 & 106 wood carving knives, or other Mora knives more suitable for children. Some of these safe carving techniques are the same as those used for carving a range of other treen such as spoons. This is a less strenuous carving project than making a spoon so is also ideal for beginners. We will also cover sharpening knives as this is key to safe carving.
