Overview
This course will give you foundation training and assessment in operating and maintaining Marine Knuckle Boom Cranes and is suitable if you have received no formal instruction or, if you wish to refresh your skills, we offer a short duration course.
 
Learning outcomes
By the end of this training course, the learner will be able to answer questions on and perform the following:
Have a basic understanding of offshore crane lifting operations, the dangers of working in the industry and their responsibilities as an operator
Have a working knowledge of the manufacturer’s handbook for the particular machine to be used
Be able to interpret the requirements of the lift plan and risk assessment
Be able to locate and identify the major components of the machine and explain their functions
Be able to locate and identify key controls and explain their functions
Set up exclusion zone explaining actions required for emergency actions and identify any hazards
Identify and maintain PPE appropriate for knuckle boom crane use
Conduct all pre-operational and running checks in accordance with manufacturer’s and legislative requirements
Identify and inspect suitability of landing area
Prepare the knuckle boom crane for lifting duties as well as over side lifts.
Operate machinery safely and efficiently taking into consideration sea uplift and moving vessel decks
Environmental considerations
Carry out all end of work and shut down procedures.

In the horror space, she’s a sucker for amazing female-centric stories in the vein of Yellowjackets, and the kind of contemporary, accessible horror that Stephen King always nails. She wants to get lost in a world that feels within reach of ours. In the speculative and dystopian spaces, she’s interested in genius ideas that set up big questions or reflect the most broken (and sometimes hidden) parts of society. She loves Octavia Butler, Margaret Atwood, George Orwell, and also adored The Leftovers, Station Eleven, Wanderers, and The Power. The what-ifs of life and fiction fascinate her. In the grounded sci-fi space, she’d love to find a smart, immersive, and accessible story like The Martian.
