ounded in 1986, Circomedia is a world-renowned centre for contemporary circus and physical theatre training in the UK. We believe in promoting circus in Bristol and beyond. Our BTEC, Degree, and MA courses combine high-calibre skills tuition and body training with the development of creative thinking, presentational flair and business know-how. As a result, our graduates develop into accomplished creative artists that challenge the perceptions of circus and physical performance.

Curtain Up’s History! Bath's Theatre School for children from Reception Tristan and Sarah Carter opened Curtain Up in January 2004 with just 12 students, although we have many more students now, we strive to provide quality training with the principle that every single child is important and should be recognised as an individual person, not just another face within a huge organisation. Since 2004 we have moved from strength to strength and Curtain Up is now the largest independent part time theatre school in the area. We teach children from Reception to Year 13 and in many cases heading for Performance degrees at drama school or University. We are so proud of our students’ achievements! Some of our children have received nationwide attention through the performing arts with major roles in BBC long running dramas or UK national musical theatre tours whilst other children have achieved huge personal hurdles of having the confidence to stand up and deliver their lines at the end of term performance.

black women let loose theatre company

Black Women Let Loose Theatre Company is a Bristol-based Community Interest Company created to highlight the experiences of women of African and Caribbean descent through devising and producing theatre. The company was created by Christelle Pellecuer, Lorna James, Rachel de Garang, Ruth Pitter, Valerie Mower and Yoma Smith. Our inaugural show, titled Shades Of Our Lives, comprises inventive short pieces exploring topics such as identity, connection and belonging, examining issues familiar to all. It was a sell-out show which we performed for the first time on International Women’s Day 2019 at Bristol Old Vic. We work collaboratively to devise pieces of dramatic work for wide ranging audiences. Our performances portray stories that offer thought-provoking insight into the actors’ life experiences.
