This course complements the Temporary works coordinator training course (TWCTC) and is designed to provide training for those undertaking the role of temporary works supervisor (TWS), as defined in BS 5975:2019. The rationale for the TWSTC is to set and raise standards across the industry, and to enable a transferable knowledge base between employers to avoid unnecessary supplementary training.

Entry requirements
There are no formal entry requirements. However, delegates should hold, or be about to hold, the role of a temporary works supervisor. 

Assessment
The examination paper is compulsory and consists of 25 multiple-choice questions selected by CITB. 

It forms the basis of assessing whether a delegate has achieved a sufficient level of understanding to be awarded the Temporary works supervisor training course (TWSTC) certificate. 

The examination lasts for 30 minutes and must be completed within this time.

This refresher course is for delegates who have previously passed the two-day Site supervision safety training scheme (SSSTS) course and can provide proof of successful attendance.

The refresher course is only for delegates who have previously passed the two-day Site supervision safety training scheme (SSSTS) course and can provide proof of successful attendance.

Assessment
Assessment will be by an exam paper at the end of the course. 

The examination paper is compulsory and consists of 25 questions, selected by CITB, covering all aspects of the course. The examination pass mark is 80% (24 out of 30). The paper consists of 22 multiple choice questions and three short written questions. There are four safety critical questions in each exam paper. The delegate must answer all four of these questions correctly to pass the exam. The multiple choice questions are worth 1 point each, whereas written questions can score between 1-3 marks. 

The exam paper forms the basis of assessment of whether or not a delegate has successfully achieved a satisfactory level of understanding to be awarded the Site supervision safety training scheme refresher (SSSTS-R) certificate. The examination lasts for 30 minutes and must be completed within this time. Delegates are permitted to use the Construction site supervision (GE706) publication for the last ten minutes of the examination period.

Assessment
Assessment will be by a multiple-choice examination at the end of the course. Delegates will also be expected to interact and participate during the course.

Using the Monovette system in aspiration mode - correct use and applications.
Using the Monovette system in evacuated mode - correct use and applications.
4 - IR Vein Detector:
Demonstration of the IR vein detector for assisting in detection of difficult veins.
5 - Veins in back of hand:
Detecting suitable veins in the back of the hand.
6 - POC testing:
Point of Care Testing - use of glucose meter to demonstrate a typical POC test procedure. Correct use and overview of other POC test devices.
7 - Using lancets (finger collection)
We look at the correct use of lancets for POC testing and whole blood micro-collection.
8 - Using lancets (heel collection)
We look at the correct use of lancets for neonatal blood spot tests (Guthrie Test).
9 - Capillary collection
Using glass capillary tubes for micro-collection. Correct use and handling.
10 - Microtube collection
Correct use of BD Microtainers (and similar micro-collection bottles) - collection and handling.
