I led the first-ever British Army expedition to Lake Baikal, the World’s largest freshwater lake, in Siberia, Russia in 1995, lasting 3 months. After leaving the Forces, I held operations management roles in Ernst & Young, Cap Gemini and Accenture, before working for a number of boutique psychology consultancies, including Chimp Management, a company closely involved with various Team GB Olympic sports including cycling, swimming, taekwondo and canoeing. I am supervised by an EMCC and ICF-accredited supervisor. I am also a qualified Mental Health First Aider, which compliments my skills workshops on managing stress and building resilience. For my own wellbeing, I enjoy running, hill walking and real ale, occasionally combining all three by taking part in mountain marathons followed by a well-earned break in a local pub to refuel and recover. I enjoy reading history and biographies (as well as psychology, it goes without saying!), and I try to keep my German and Russian above the level of embarrassed British tourist asking for directions to the beach.

Jo is a fully qualified Physiotherapist and has been working for over 17 years in the profession treating a variety of patients to include Elite athletes, Professional Ballet dancers, amateur sports participants and the general public with complex pain conditions. She completed the training to become a fully certified Modified Pilates teacher in 2003 with the Australian Physiotherapy and Pilates Institute. Jo lives with her husband, daughter, their son and a springer spaniel in Barnsley and loves keeping herself fit by attending Bootcamp sessions, personal training and running. She is aiming to do her first half marathon soon. In 2006 Jo set up Flex Pilates, originally teaching classes in North Sheffield. Since then the business has expanded to Leeds and Barnsley with people of all ages and abilities enjoying the benefits of this popular exercise. As well as teaching Pilates classes Jo also works with the APPI as an International Lecturer, teaching other Health Professionals the principles of Pilates teaching, enabling them to take the exercise into their practice. Being a young carer means they provide care for one or more family members who have disabilities, long-term physical illnesses, and/or mental health difficulties. They may be providing physical, personal, financial and/or emotional care. We also offer support to children and young people aged 8-25 who live in Sheffield and are affected by drug and alcohol issues in their family (now or in the past). “ It’s nice - I’ve made some friends who are in the same situation as me. — SYC member We provide support through one-to-one work, group support, trips, holidays, and support with education, employment, and training. We can work with young carers’ families, with the aim of reducing the caring that the young person is taking on and improving life for the whole family. We also work with organisations across the city to make sure that additional support is available to young carers and young people affected by familial substance misuse. If you would like to refer a young person to our service, please talk to them about the services we provide. With their consent, you can then refer them to our service. The Company and Charity has evolved from over twelve years of work with the Clifton Learning Community of schools initially as an Education Action Zone, with, in addition, a multi-disciplinary Behaviour Improvement Programme Team, which included roles such as Community Development Tutor, Family Learning Tutor, and Mental Health Practitioner. As the political climate changed in 2010 the key stakeholders at the time; the Head Teachers from the nine schools with whom the EAZ worked, requested that the prudently managed funds from the time of the EAZ be invested into the local community in the most sustainable way possible, in order to help and develop the local community to be stronger, more resilient and to have equality of opportunity. They recognised our ability to work with key agencies outside the education structures to provide additionality for families and children beyond the school gates. In 2011 the Clifton Learning Partnership charity was formed. We are intensely proud of our ability to change, grow and develop; responding to a rapidly changing political climate; and continuing to address the presenting need in a form that is most appropriate. We have always been innovative and taken opportunities. Our practice as an EAZ was celebrated nationally, and it was at this time that we developed our highly successful EAZMAG, which we now sell nationally, with all profits coming to Clifton Learning Partnership.

This course explains the role and the overall management context within which it sits.High risk can occur on small as well as larger sites hence understanding the essentials of good safety risk management, as outlined in BS5975, is relevant for projects of all sizes. This course will give the delegate thorough knowledge of the Temporary Works Co-ordinator role however this does not alone make a delegate competent, as this requires other attributes e.g. experience.
