Having been diagnosed with mental illness in 2008, she found maintaining good health while working in her finance role challenging. She went on to leave her career and moved into technology while, in her spare time, supporting many mental health organisations. After working overseas, she returned to her home county, Lancashire, and started working on creating a technology solution that could support employers in managing mental health, and Mente was born. Mel's extensive knowledge of mental health and desire to support organisations came from lived experience, extensive training in the subject and collaboration with universities, health and legal professionals, and business owners. She leads the business with a dedicated research and development team alongside an extended mental health specialist team, they collectively support organisations with their accredited mental health programme in industries Such as finance, construction, Oil and gas, manutacturing and property in the UK and overseas. Our mission is to ensure that skills continue to grow amongst those who are most likely to see the signs of mental ill-health, self-harm, and thoughts of suicide. Our motivation is that our trainees can recognise these signs, then intervene to reduce harm in your community or workplace. If it’s not one of our regular courses, we will develop a bespoke course specifically for you. All our training is evidence based, and a number of our courses are accredited. We work with places of education, corporate companies such as Law firms and Accountancy firms, Health Care Professionals, Housing Associations, and more, as well as general members of the public. The majority of our training is provided in-house – when we come to you, it typically makes the practicalities easier. We can also arrange training at a local venue on your behalf.
